<font size="2" face="Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif">Umm, has Michael Stipe changed his mind since this interview (or was this just taken way out of context?). He was always one of the few musicians I thought *didn't* like the Beatles.
From the Nov. 17, 1994, issue of Rolling Stone magazine, a Q&A with
Michael Stipe:
Q: Did any of the Sixties icons like the Beatles or the Rolling Stones
mean anything to you when you were growing up?
Stipe: (Shakes his head no.) I've always referred to the Beatles as
elevator music, because that's exactly what they were. "Michelle" in
German is the one Beatles song that meant something to me, because I was
in Germany when I was seven years old and heard it on the radio and
thought it was pretty. I mean, I didn't know they were the Beatles. I've
never sat down and listened to a Beatles record from beginning to end.
Those guys didn't mean a f*cking thing to me.
It was exciting last night to see the Rolling Stones, because I know
that I will never go to see them in concert; I have no desire to watch
them perform a two-hour show. But to see the truncated, commercial version
of it last night was exciting: I watched Mick Jagger perform -- that was
kind of cool. The Monkees and the Banana Splits meant a lot more to me --
and whoever did "Yummy, Yummy, Yummy." I mean, that was the stuff I really
knew and loved. "Honey," and all the Glen Campbell stuff.

Re: A bit of research: Celebrities who are Beatle fans
Here are a few... I find them quite strange, but they're true.
Justin Timberlake (I saw him on TV twice wearing a Beatles T-shirt, I suppose that justifies being a fan)
Marilyn Manson (He did a cover version of Come Together)
No Doubt (Did a cover version of Obladi Oblada)
Meryl Streep (I heard that she once had a big crush on Paul)
That's all I can think of for now.
Oh yeah, and this is my first post. Hi all!

ANYONE WHO'S GOT A SOUL!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When I was a kid I fell even more in love with Mikie Myers cause of his fanness.
You can tell in a lot of his movies.
Him and Dana Carvey.
But yes, all those people are okay in my book.
And I bet River is sitting with John right now, talking about life...
Love and Miss you River, why did you have to leave so sadly?
Don't know if these have been mentioned, but...
Phil Collins (not just because of his "cameo" in AHDN... I believe he was also featured in the "Mojo" magazine column about records that changed your life with "With the Beatles")
...and not to mention some of their very first fans, Klaus Voormann, Astrid Kirchherr and Jürgen Vollmer.
There are undoubtedly lots more.
i'm 99% sure Shigeru Miyamoto (on of the main guys in video desineing for Nintendo) is a Beatles fan. there's a few references in games such as in Mario sunshine in ricco harbor there is a yellow submarine.
Roberta Flack, Alica Keyes, Norah Jones, Smokey Robinson, I think Madonna is a fan to some extent too. In regards to deceased fans, Frank Sinatra.
I don't know if this has already been mentioned but Liam Gallagher from Oasis sounds like a pretty big fan (he named one of his son's Lennon). And seeing as it isn't spelt "Lenin" I'm assuming he named him after John :)
