'I'm at peace with myself' says Heather Mills as she helps to fight poverty in New York
Heather Mills has opened up about living in America, dating rumours and how sheís spent her divorce settlement.
Speaking exclusively to Hello! magazine, the animal rights campaigner said: 'Iím in a really good place at the moment. Iím really at peace.
'Iíve spent a lot of time healing.'
Heather has spent much of her time working on charitable projects in America since her very public £24.3 million divorce settlement with Sir Paul McCartney back in May.
This included Heather helping to donate $1 million of vegan food to the Hunts Point neighbourhood in New York, where more than half the population live below the poverty line.
The former model, who turned 40 this year, says she finds it easier to live in the US where she and her four-year-old daughter Beatrice are now based.
'Itís just so positive', she said. 'When I did Dancing with the Stars, it was just so amazing. I love England and I always will. But you know, it seems like I can really get a lot done in America on the causes I really care about.'
Despite the move, Heather has kept her East Sussex home and dismisses rumours that sheís sold up. 'Iíve just spent a year having it renovated and is it is not on the market', she said.
Now, with some perspective, Heather says she is able to ignore some of the more 'ridiculous' claims made by the British media.
When asked about reports that she has dated American millionaire James Costa, she laughed: 'James Costaís boyfriend was not happy when he read about that!'
Heather, whose former husband is now dating American Nancy Shevell, added: 'Thatís happened a couple of times.
Theyíve associated me with my personal trainer, who dated my little sister. Then they put me with a blonde-haired man, who was my brother, and my gay make-up artist Mark Payne!
On new relationships, she said: 'Whoever comes into either of our lives is going to be very nice, and a long as Beatrice is happy, thatís all that matters. She has always been put first.'
Of Paulís new love, Nancy, she says: 'Iím sure sheís lovely.'
Heather, who is hoping to launch her own range of vegan foods, says she has spent much of her divorce settlement already.
She told Hello!: 'A lot of it has already gone to charity, and I kept some to invest in projects and causes that will make this world a better place.
'Itís been a very, very difficult time, the hardest ever, but I now want the chance to focus on charity and continue my work with the causes I really care about.'
