Maybe it's just me, but I can't understand why people are so militant about the subject. How, honestly, does it possibly affect me if my next door neighbor (who is a gay fellow) is living with, in a civil union with or is married to his partner?
Exactly! Whenever I hear somebody say, "Well, I think marriage should be between a man and a woman" I want to shout, "Well, I think the U.S. Constitution protects the rights of all people living within our borders and I think that marriage–which is a human and civil right–should be between any two consenting adults and I think that you don't have the right to deprive people of their constitutional rights just because you don't 'believe' in it!"

FPSHOT, I'm not exactly sure what point you're trying to make, but please know that there are millions of people in the United States who think it's definitely time we joined the 21st Century and stopped denying our citizens and residents their civil rights... and also know that there are millions of us who support our President but are frustrated with him for NOT openly supporting gay marriage.

And let's just celebrate any and all human rights victories because they bring us closer to a world where everyone is free.

Amen, Sister Maia! I had a co-worker who was not a nice person and who spouted that line about how sacrosanct marriages were "between 1 man and 1 woman," not caring whose toes she stepped on. That co-worker belonged to a charismatic church and spent $150.00 on a retreat wherein the charismatic lecturer went off on a homophobic speech; gave that "marriage is between 1 man and 1 woman" and that self pleasure was a sin. That same co-worker would cry as in "being moved" each time she talked about that retreat. Apparently what the speaker did was fish up excuses out of people's pasts to use as excuses for them not to take responsibility for their current lives. The co-worker was not well liked (I didn't like her at all) and I found myself thinking, "Well, good grief! Pay me $150.00 tax free dollars and I'll say whatever you want to hear. That speaker just lightened your bank account by that much and it's business as usual for you." I didn't like the homophobic comments which I feel fly in the face of tolerance.

get the right webpage - 10 seconds
type the post - 30 seconds-ish

well balance that to the time you did have to post that you wish you had the time and conclude you probably have a time management problem

That's exactly the point I am making because I know about the desire via media. Aren't politicians - the decision makers - supposed to be representatives of these millions?

We have an annual boat gay parade in the canals of Amsterdam which is huge and politicians even sail along just to identify over and over that it's just all part of the community.

This is not directed to anyone one person - but could we stick to the topic at hand? Thanks

Yeah, I saw the mayor of Chicago, the governor of Illinois and bazillions of other minor politicians at our local parade this past weekend. So we do the same thing here.

Cool !!!!

But itīs not united, it is local and means nothing to the position of the USA in this matter.

Then you will agree that to the rest of the world it does look a bit... fill in the word... especially for the hippy centre of the world i.e. California... that the "United States" of America still have 44 states to go including Hippy World before it's a 'united' agreement

An estimate could be the year 2019, and why...

Sorry Rell but you gotta agree it looks a bit... to the rest of the world who always feel the US wants to be in charge of the world and some times that is good but when it comes to local US issues... which have been dealt with around the world years ago... it stills looks like you guys are decades behind..

I'm more concerned with the fact that progress is actually being made than what "the world" (i.e., you) thinks of the speed of the progress. Things do take a while, sometimes too long, to get accomplished, but like in any process, there isn't anything wrong with celebrating the steps along the way. It keeps one's motivation and inspiration up for the long haul. I see that attitude as much more positive and productive than saying "I deem that your little insignificant victory is nothing, you still have so far to go, you backwards hicks."

Ok well thanks for the usual sarcasm, it becomes a daily habit but still funny.

Contrary to what you think and write it is not just my opinion, it is opinions I read in newspapers, blogs etc. from many people all over the world from politicians to leaders to the gay world in which I have people I know to just anyone.

If you think that in 2025 you will have all the "united" states agreed and then celebrate that as a fantastic victory, good..

I'd rather live in HippieLand than in HookerVille.
