Default Input needed Epiphone Casino

Hello folks,
I managed to save a few bucks and am finally going to buy the Epiphone Casino I have wanted for so long. I have a couple of questions if anyone can help: I no longer perform so this guitar is strictly for my own enjoyment, and I was wondering if any of you have a fairly new Casino and what you think of them. I know I'm not getting the 1960's Casino that the Beatles used, but overall are they still good? They seem to cost about $600.00 (new one) wherever I look, and for that amount I would expect something decent. I guess they are made in Korea these days, or somewhere in Asia, and I've read the P90 pick-ups can be a problem. Also, what would be a good small amp to use just in my house, not on stage. And finally Natural or Sunburst? Which do you like better? I've wanted the natural one since Let it Be days, but that sunburst one looks mighty sweet too! Thanks for any advice!

I cannot help you about the quality of present-day Casinos, since I don't own one. But I've been checking it at online shops for some time, wishing to have one. I'd go for the sunburst and, if possible, with a Bigsby, like George's.

If you can swing the cost for a new (or used) Elitest series Casino, go that route. They are made to spec from the original '65 Kalamazoo model. They have superior Gibson Electronics and better overall construction. They are absolutely beautiful.

Thanks for the replies. Couldn't afford the Elitist, but I got the blond one with what they call "Lennon mods", meaning a black washer under the toggle switch and one black tone knob, which is the way John's was set up. It is amazing fun to try different Beatle songs and see if I can match the tone, Abbey Road seems to have a lot of Casino songs. The whole thing cost me about $550.00, (with a case too!) and I was checking E-Bay etc. on a daily basis. I had a great time hunting for my Casino, and it is a beautiful guitar.
