Talking Chicago Beatlefest 2005!

I just checked out the Fest website, and they've updated it with info about August here (hope this works). The info and catalogs were mailed out on May 27th, so look for it coming to a mailbox near you!

So who's going this year? I'm definitely going.

I'll be there, I'm a guest again! And I'll have a NEW BOOK!!! Be sure to stop by the fanfic panels or my table in the London Room!!!

We should do the annual Beatlelinkers get-together on Saturday morning as usual, yes?

I'm so going. I convinced my Dad to go along and my aunt and her daughter are coming too, lol. Going to be a fun time for the family. We don't often do stuff together so I'm looking forward to it!

I hope I'm going... if I can convince one of my parents to take me. I'd love to take a tour of Chicago, too! I haven't been on a trip for a long time, and I've never been to a Fest.

Liz,

You'll LOVE it! You'll have the time of your life. The Beatle parties are so much fun - we just danced our asses off for hours. At the 2002 Chicago Fest, there were people dancing on the couch! One reveler danced with the lamp and somebody else overturned the wastebasket (good thing it was empty) and used it for a drum. We were there for hours - started a bit after 10:00 and went on strong until about 3:00 a.m. I know - I was there and so were a few other Linkers. Boy, that was a helluva Fest!

2003 was loads of fun. I can't wait for this upcoming fest!

The meetup worked out really well last year, so I'm assuming same time, same place this time around... 11am Saturday on the second floor by the elevators, look for the Beatlelinks sign.

I'll be there all three days and hope to meet up with some new people, as well as all you old regulars. I'll be bringing my bass, so if anybody is a musician and wants to jam...just remember, I only *just* barely "don't suck".

Yeah, that meetup location worked out fine last year -- there are plenty of seats on the Mezzanine floor and we could find a central area and locate each other easily. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone!

What kind of stuff are you interested in? Sports, architecture, shopping, "touristy stuff", art, music (duh), museums....? Give me some more specifics and I'd be happy to help! PM if you'd like.

If you've never really toured Chicago, Donna, you are in for a treat! I love Chicago, it's my second fave city after New York (and only because I live in New York). From a tourism perspective, I can highly recommend an architecture tour (whether walking or from the water), the Art Institute and the Field Museum, the Magnificent Mile for awesome shopping...I'm sure Suz and others who live there can give you even better pointers, but those are the things I know I enjoyed the first few times I went there and continue to enjoy!
