Default Friar Park

A memory has just popped into my head. Is Friar Park up for sale? Did I dream this last summer or did I hear it on Entertainment Tonight (TV) while channel-flipping?

I hope it's not. I'd like to think that the Harrison family would cherish it, especially the gardens that George devoted 30 years to tending.

I believe one topic is enough, Soft Touch, so I'm closing the other ones you opened. About Friar Park, I'm not too sure about it being for sale, nor have I heard anything in that respect. Maybe other members have further info. Another thread with this very name was discussed in this Forum a while ago, and you can find it by clicking here

There have been some reports on it being for sale already somewhere last summer, but sofar from what I have read, it was just another rumour.

Would it be for sale, I bet that some official and/or respected newsdesks will have had the news, which is not yet the case.

I previewed my post several times and the system posted the messages without me asking for it to do so. How can this be prevented or is it just one of those quirks that happens occasionally? I also tried to delete the extra posts, but I did not have permission.

In case you press Preview, it is very unlikely that it will post it. Maybe yo were unlucky.

It does happen that when you

a)push Submit Reply
b)don't get a confirmation, so
c)push Submit Reply again,

you get the doubles, you have to be a little patient.

Otherwise, no problem, the moderators (like Darkhorse) take away the doubles.

Yeah, no biggie.

I also think the Friar Park sale thing it's just "Devil's Radio". No statements from the Harrison family have been made regarding this particular fact.

This has got nothing to do with the topic, but I visited Friar Park july 2000 and I must tell it's such a lovely place. The peace that surrounds the whole area is almost magical. I spent the whole afternoon hanging around and taking photos waiting for Dark Horse to appear - well he didn't, but if you happen to be around Henley the place is surely worth visiting. I hope it's not for sale.

I read last year that George was thinking of selling Friar Park because of the attack and all of the bad memories. Either it was false information (which is quite possible as I read it in a newspaper) or George must have changed his mind.

I so want to see Friar Park!
I have an acquaintaince in the music industry who actually was invited there for dinner with George and other execs about 6 years ago. He has said it is just unbelievable!
I'd also like to check out the local pubs where George used to hang with the locals!

From what I've read, Henley sounds like a very nice area.

I was at Henley once and indeed it is just what foreigners may expect from a local English town in the country.

L'Angelo, welcome here; any chance of getting the pictures out here? Looks mighty interesting.

Henley is a very upper class area full of very very wealthy people, and very nice from what I hear. I haven't been there which is lazy cos it would only be a 45 minute drive for me but I have a friend who lives there and describes it as such.

Henley is very famouse for the Henley Regatta on the Thames.

Siobhan's right. It's way back when the attack happened. More recently, I doubt if it's a topic being considered. I don't know anybody who's that advanced stage of recovery from this event, and they didn't even know him personally. So I can't imagine that being anywhere close to a topic of discussion or consideration for his nearest and dearest.

The house that's most important is the house that houses the soul- and then it is only important so long as the soul is in it.

I know some will consider my comment controversial but when I think about it George probably did love his home as indeed many of us also love our homes. However he did have a bad experience there and when it is all said and done it is just a house. George was far too spiritual a man to be totally obsessed with a material pile. On a practical level that place would cost an absolute fortune in maintence. Olivia and Dhani could well consider selling it when the time is right. Sorry about 'FPSHOT', but without George in it it's nothing anyway.

I think what bothers most is just the idea of it, you know- the principle of it.
