All My Lovin': Sir Paul finally goes public with girlfriend Nancy

By Liz Thomas, The Daily Mail

29th May 2008

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz....html#comments

After 18 months locked in one of the bitterest divorce battles in showbiz, Sir Paul McCartney could be forgiven for steering clear of relationships altogether.

But just two weeks after his six year marriage to Heather Mills was officially ended, he looks to be putting his heartbreak behind him by stepping out in public for the first time with girlfriend Nancy Shevell.

The multi-millionaire heiress and socialite accompanied Sir Paul to a ceremony at one of America's top universities where he was awarded an honorary doctorate in music.

McCartney and his new girlfriend Nancy Shevell attend a ceremony at Yale University in Connecticut.

Meanwhile Sir Paul's ex wife Heather Mills took a relaxing break in the Canary Island of Tenerife.

She looked as though she was recharging her batteries as she listened to her Ipod and surfed the internet on her lap top.

Sir Paul looked relaxed as he attended the service with Miss Shevell, 47, who was wearing a low-key floral summer dress.

The former Beatle changed from his suit into the traditional black graduation robes and mortarboard hat before collecting the accolade in front of a crowd of thousands of cheering students at Yale University.

The institution's president Richard Levin told Sir Paul as he presented the award: "You have played every chord, touched every emotion here, there and everywhere. You have pushed the boundaries of the familiar to create new classics."

Publicity-shy Miss Shevell kept a little distance behind the star as they arrived, but her decision to escort to him to the event will further fuel rumours that their love affair is becoming increasingly serious.

The couple were first pictured in a passionate embrace in the front of his car last November and last month they were pictured frolicking in the sea and enjoying romantic walks on the beach whilst on holiday together in the Caribbean.

While Sir Paul has also linked to actress Rosanna Arquette after the pair were seen enjoying a string of dates, this is understood to have fizzled out. He was also reported to have become close to former Olympic horserider Tanya Larrigan.

Miss Shevell is vice-president of her family's 250million transport firm. She and estranged husband Bruce Blakeman first became friends with Sir Paul and first wife Linda during the early 1990s. A breast cancer survivor, she has raised hundred of thousands of pounds for charity.

Her family background, elegance and demeanour have already lead to comparisons with Linda.

These latest pictures of Sir Paul with Miss Shevell will infuriate Miss Mills, who was awarded 24.3million in the divorce settlement.

Miss Mills was taking a relaxing break in the Canary Island of Tenerife as Sir Paul paraded his new girlfriend in America.

She looked as though she was recharging her batteries as she listened to her Ipod and surfed the internet on her lap top.

In a bitter outburst on GMTV earlier this year when she discovered he was dating she said: " I think he's got three different girlfriends, so I wish all the girls the best of luck. Better them than me."

Sir Paul met Miss Mills, 40, at a charity event in 1999 just a year after Linda died from breast cancer.

Despite his children's serious misgivings about his new beau, he wed the former model in 2002 at the17th century Castle Leslie in County Monaghan, Ireland.

The couple had daughter Beatrice a year later but announced their separation in 2006 initially blaming press intrusion.

However relations between the two camps rapidly deteriorated during the divorce. Earlier this month a judge took just 30 seconds to end the marriage. A spokesperson for Sir Paul declined to comment on his relationship with Miss Shevell.

It's still funny to me, because she just doesn't look like Paul's type to me. But she is really pretty, and I just hope that she's a good person and that she's good to him.

To me it's not so much about looks as the whole meat-eating Bush-supporting thingy. (Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying meat-eaters and republicans are all bad people, I'm just discussing "Paul's type"..) Oh well. The important thing is, of course, whether or not she is good to/for him. Be happy, Paul.

And uh...yeah, is this publicly confirming they're a couple? I don't know.

What is his type exactly? No, she isn't blond, but they have a history. A longer one than he had with Heather before he up and married her. Hopefully whatever they share together they won't rush into anything impetious. I still say she resembles Mary quite a bit. Ewwww!

What's with Paul's need to constantly be in relationships?

A lot of people are like that, for reasons I've never quite understood.

At least he's dating somebody MY age this time...lol...I hope she's a nice woman and they treat each other well.

awwww that's not nice at all! I don't hold anyone who Paul picks as his next bird who happen to be handicap against them no matter what happens in the relationship. What happened to Heather when she lost her lower leg was awful and I don't wish that on anyone of my worst enemy.

I don't know what to feel about Nancy, personally I think he should enjoy being alone. Between Linda and Heather, he was alone for a good year and to me, that's not enough, especially after losing someone he had been married to almost 30 years. I don't blame him for falling in love but, dude, chill! It's not so bad sleeping alone in the bed, trust me!
I mean, seriously, look at his own track record with women- Dot to Iris to Jane to Francie to Linda to Heather to Nancy... I mean geez dude!
But if Nancy makes him happy, then fine, however it's just not the way I would've handle the situation myself.

I'm sure other people noticed part of Paul's personality where he likes being in relationships and not alone. In a way, I think he's kind of like John. His mother died when he was just 17, but wasn't even there for his whole childhood. Doesn't the absense kind of explain why John was kind of attached to Yoko? The same could be for Paul. He lost his mom at 14, right? Doesn't want to be alone?

Does that make sense?

Hmm...Could explain things...

It all made sense to me, SoD, until I tried to picture Heather as a mother figure! Sorry, the thought just cracks me up!

I dunno. Just always needing a woman figure around I guess. Doesn't necessarily have to be a mother figure.

And, if we can't see Heather as a mother figure...well, that just is bad news for Beatrice...

So does that mean it's official now? They're together? Or are they just close friends and Paul decided to invite her along? Whatever. If they are, great, I hope she's good for him. If not, well that's fine too. Nothing wrong with having friends who are girls without being a couple.
