Wanna Buy John Lennonís Home Studio?

Just like many musos of today, John Lennon had a home studio that he liked to tinker around in and make the odd record, such as Imagine. Hence, he had a pretty good collection of vintage recording gear which is set to go up for auction online on 11th May. The gear was installed at his Georgian manor house estate at Tittenhurst Park, near Ascot, in 1970 after the break up of The Beatles, and was used to record not just demos, but his early solo releases.

The iconic song ĎImagineí was recorded in the home studio. The collection of gear is expected to be snapped up quickly by fans, with some of the microphones used to record his vocals expected to fetch in excess of $8,000 each. The microphones saw duty in the recording of both the Plastic Ono Band album and Lennonís solo masterpiece Imagine.

The sale is being conducted by MQL Ltd, a specialist re-seller of recording gear. The company is also putting up for sale at the same time a studio mixing console from Abbey Road studios, which has been used to mix hits (and misses) for the last 18 years.

Ooh, I'd better start saving up... QUICK!

The BBC report says that John's microphones are expected sell for about £5,000 each. WOW! I'd also like Ringo's "coffee percolator"...
