Default First Beatles Song Ever Heard

Hi everybody,

maybe you have already had a topic like this, but I'm a new memeber and I couldn't find this...

I just wanted to ask you what is the first Beatles song you have heard, or if not just the first - anyone can listen to them without 'really listening' if you know what I mean... - at least the one that made you into the Beatles.

I try to be clearer saying mine, which is

Help!

since I have listened to it, I loved the Beatles, I felt that they were the Best ever...

Now I look forward to your replies... Ta

God, that's so hard to say, considering my Mom was/is such a huge Beatles freak. The music was always on at home. I think I'm gonna have to say "Yesterday" is the one I have the most memories of, though.

The first one I remember is "Octoups' Garden" but I didn't even know that the Beatles were a band at that point, cause I was just a wee thing. The song that made me love the Beatles is "I am the walrus", to my 11 year old psyche that song was the best thing I had ever heard, I still love it but it isn't my faorite anymore.

It appears that I'm the first to reply in this topic that experienced the Beatles firsthand. I remember a DJ saying something along the lines of 'new song from a group out of England'. Then I heard those famous chords that opened the flood gates for Beatlemania in the US - "I Want To Hold Your Hand".

The first song I remember listening to, was Taxman ... The song that addicted me to the Beatles was probably Eleanor Rigby ... Probably a strange "Beatles Conversion Song", but the strings played, and the harmonies sung in this song would stick in my head for days.

I was just a wee thing unaware of the world around me. I remember my mother asking my older cousin, "What is this Beatles? - I'd like to hear them." So he went around the dial on the radio until he found them playing. Mum was amazed that you could just find them that easily - but I can't remember which song we heard. That was the first time I knew anything about them.

I was a kid riding on a carousel and it played instrumental music, so on that day "Michelle" was playing. At the time, I didn't know it was a Beatles song. The way I found out about that carousel ride was from this home movie-thing my dad taped. Another memory is when I was a kid and hearing "Imagine" (maybe on a radio)and my mom, I guess, telling me to turn it off cause I guess she didn't like the lyrics..But now I like that tune. I'd say "Free As A Bird" really started things off.

Same with me. My friend and I were listening to a small transistor radio outside on a sunny, Saturday afternoon when I first heard I Want To Hold Your Hand.

I have an uncle who lived very near my place and a daughter the same age as me. So, I was over there quite a bit. Anyway, he was a huge Beatle freak...watched every Beatle video he had on John's death, birth, and other various important dates. He had a movie poster for Help! and the white album portraits hung around a John Lennon clock. So those are my first real Beatle memories.

In late junior high or so I came into possession of the "Hey Jude" LP. I listened and listened to it. At first I loved "Hey Jude" but then grew more into a "Paperback Writer" phase. I had no idea the time frame of those songs. What's interesting is that I'm actually not a Paul fan at all now but since that "album" was so Paul-heavy, his were the first songs I grew to love.

The first Beatles songs I remember hearing when I was very young was "Do You Want To Know A Secret" and "All Together Now". The song that made me a fan was probably "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds."

My dad played "Yellow Sumbarine" on his acoustic guitar when I was like 4 years old, so that should be my first.

I think he means that his uncle's daughter is the same age as him, making the daughter onosideboards' cousin.

The first song I heard was She Loves You and I was completely sold, yet being so young at the time.

From then, I followed about everything from the Beatles, not only all the singles and LP's, but things now being called memorabilia, chewing gum wraps, playing cards, articles etc.

I remember "I Should Have Known Better" as the first one I thought was great. I remember singing it in the shower.

The first Beatles song I can remember hearing was P.S. I Love You. My sister was a HUGE Beatles fan (her and my brother were lucky enough to see them perform in Chicago) and had that single. Because her initials are P.S., she, like many other girls with the same initials, imagined the song was for her. She would therefore play it over and over. Unbelieveable as it may sound, I STILL like that song!

THe very first Beatle song I ever heard was Michelle, and Hey Jude, see, when I was born, I got three musical dolls, each one from a different person but anyways, one played Michelle, one Hey Jude and the other played Beautiful Boy. The BB one wore out quickly. But the first song that I remember hearing and knwoing it was the Beatles was Love Me Do, at the school gymnastics show.
