Kevin Howlett's BBC book - Second edition
I've been waiting for a long time to see whether Kevin Howlett's "The Beatles. The BBC Archives 1962-1970" got any cheaper. But what I've found today is that there is a second edition. The design is similar, although in blue instead of in red, and with a couple of photos of the Beatles on the cover. Its price is almost half that of the original edition.
First edition
Second edition
All I've been able to find out is that the second edition doesn't come into a slipcase. But I don't know whether all the extra material (facsimile documents) are also included, or whether there is any other difference / update between both editions. Does anybody know?

The second edition isn't released yet, at least not here. Based on the blue book's weight though, it's somewhat generally assumed it's without the extra material, which seems likely. Note this book (red cover) also comes as ebook download. That one contains the extra material, which is so badly pixelated it's unreadable!

Thanks for your answer. I assume you're in the US; in the UK, the book was released in April, acording to Amazon. How do you know the weight of the books? I wonder whether the lack of slipcase is enough to account for the difference in weights (I imagine it to be rather sturdy), although, as you say, it's likely that the extra material will be missing too. I just wanted to make sure.
What is unacceptable is what you say about the digital version of the extra material. I don't really know how these e-books work, but I think that scanning it again and replacing the old version shouldn't be too difficult.

The weight is book's shipping rate on various sites. I really don't have more info, sorry. Maybe somebody else that has bought the book can come forward?
