Better side of Abbey Road?
Side A
1. Come Together
2. Something
3. Maxwell's Silver Hammer
4. Oh! Darling
5. Octopus's Garden
6. I Want You (She's So Heavy)
Side B
7. Here Comes the Sun
8. Because
9. You Never Give Me Your Money
10. Sun King
11. Mean Mr. Mustard
12. Polythene Pam
13. She Came in Through the Bathroom Window
14. Golden Slumbers
15. Carry That Weight
16. End
17. Her Majesty
Ok. I promise this is the last thread I do like this
This is another tough one for me. Big suprise.
What makes it difficult this time around are the two sides are so different.
Side A has incredible diversity and versatility. I love the fact that every single Beatle steps up to the plate to deliver a classic - John with Come Together, George with Something, Paul with Oh Darling, and Ringo with Octopus's Garden. All the songs on side a display a certain maturity. Nothing is rushed and the pacing in general is casual but I don't get the feeling that the Beatles were stretching things. Every single note has meaning.
The highlight from side a for me would have to be I Want You (She' So Heavy). A song that completey blows my mind. But lets face it. All of side a rules. Most bands could base an entire career around these 6 songs.
Side B. Where to start? Eclectic and adventerous. Parts of it seems to be thrown together but it works. Mr Mustard and Polytheme Pam are filller of course but they are damn tastey filler.
Highlights galore on side b. Paul's voice on Golden Slumbers gives me the chills. Out of this world. The guitar bridge between Polythene Pam and She Came In Through the Bathroom Windows flat out kicks ass. The bridge between You Never Give Me Your Money and Sun King is a miracle of production. It's perfect.
The highlight (or trilight if that is a word)of side b is the opening sequence of Here Comes the Sun, Because, and You Never Give Me Your Money. All of these songs are pure magic to me. George, John, and Paul each take turns in weaving their own dream world. These three songs just blow me away. Sublime beauty and possibly the best music ever created and for this reason side b is going to be the winner for me.

Matthew, I hate you for making me do this lol
I will go with side A. I think the whole album is excellent.
Buuuut, side A has Something, MSH, Oh Darling, I WANT YOU!! I love all those songs. On side A all 4 of them have a song of his own, and not a song but some of their best ones.
I like side B too, it's fantastic how the songs are like one long song, I love that. It's difficult for me to leave Golden Slumbers, Her Majesty and You Never Give Me Your Money out of my choice, but I think side A does it more for me.

For me it has to be side B
Even though i think Octupus's garden, something, maxwells...., are great songs! All my favorites are on side B, such as here comes the sun, golden slumbers, her majesty and generally the intire medly of songs on side B.
Side A songs seems to be the more put together songs which had more work put into them, but i love the different funny little tunes on side B. The shortness of her majesty is amazing, the great way in which they are all strung together is fab and georges here comes the sun is one of the best on the album!!! All together Abbey road is the a great way that the beatles ended their careers together!

For me it's, without question, side B. For some reason, this was an easy one for me.

Abbey Road is the Beatles at their peak and who knows what they could have kept on producing if they didn't split up in 1970.. Their playing seems effortless the production is top notch and they do 3 part harmonies that were missing from their recent work and George Harrison's masterpieces alone makes this album worth purchasing . Paul with his catchy melodies and John's songs on side A provide the heavy rock needed to balance the beautiful ballads . And Ringo was having a good time banging away on his kit to give us a mini solo. I'll take both sides

Side B by a nose. Put Here Comes the Sun on side A and Side A takes the cake, but you can't beat Here Comes the Sun, You Never Give Me Your Money, and the rest of the medley. Although I do love Come Together, Octopus's Garden, Something, and Oh Darling...

Mine is side B with the medley and The End..... what a statement and song to end a band's 'living legend' status together!!!!

I choose Side A. It has arguably the greatest opening two numbers in rock history, and 'I Want You (She's So Heavy)' is my personal favorite track on the LP. Not to deny anything of the immortal Side B; the tracks placed there plus the medley are indeed amazing, but Side A has no filler material as far as I know, and it's full of classic songs.

Side B for me. "You Never Give Me Your Money" is an extremely underated gem, I mean just take a listen to those amazing harmonies and guitar lines got to love it. "Here Comes the Sun" is probably the best released song George made with the Beatles, and "Because" has an amazing vocal harmony. Finally the last part of the medley is possibly the best conclusion to an album in Rock history (Sgt. Pepper has a fair arguement). The only down point to this side is that it doesn't really have any classic moments from John, which is a bit of a shame.

It was always said that John liked Side A more whilst Paul and George Martin prefered Side B. As much as I love Side B and I think it blends perfectly with the lots of sound tricks and melody bridges and all the environment, it's still a collection of songs that weren't properly finished. So it's one long, great song. Or two long, great songs plus "Here Comes The Sun" which is my favorite Beatles Harrisong. I love it. But...
Side A has finished songs, two great John rockers, one great Paul ballad, THE greatest Beatles ballad, and one of the three masterpieces Ringo wrote in his entire life. Plus it has "Maxwell" which is kinda silly but it's perfect in the context of the album (McCartney on lead vocals, Harrison playing the moog, you get the drift).
Gotta go with Side A after a lot of thinking.

I guess i'd have to pick side A mainly cuz they're whole songs and not a medley of pieces of songs, although side B has Here Comes the Sun and all. But I'm still going with A

i dont have the lp so i dont know where the sides are divided but personally i dont think this album should be divided. obviously on lp it has to but as a cd it fits together so well. if i'd have to pick id say side a because of something, come together, maxell's silver hammer, and octupus's garden mainly
