My classical guitar's called Juanita (after the saint of the day in which I bought it), and my electric guitars are called Jorgina (after George Harrison) and Mercè (because of a song that was playing in the shop when I bought it). My bass is called Ludwig (because of Ringo's drums, and because it's a German name for a German bass).

So... I've decided to re-name the guitar I borrowed.... to Winston Paul Harrison the 4th (because by adding the 4th I get a reference to Ringo as well!)

Who doesnt name their guitars??
Yeah, I'm in a band at my church and every instrument in our band is named. All the guitars, my 3 basses (4-string - Tristan; 5-string - Herman; 6-string - Princeton), drums, keys, and even our two singers named their mics... Well thats about it, if you want to contact me, relientk3468@gmail.com. I have a 4 string LTD with ESP pickups, a 5 string Mexican Fender jazz bass, and a 6 string yamaha. If you want any information on those feel free to contact me at that email address or at www.myspace.com/drewbaby69

I have about 30 guitars, so they dont all have names!
A few old timers do, though...
I have a 1958reissue Les Paul, which is named 'Beano'... my 1970 les Paul Custom is called 'Lucifer'.
I have a 1969 Gibson J200 named 'Lula' and a 1989 Rickenbacker Susanna Hoffs model which answers to "Sex-on-legs"!
I also have two hand painted replicas of George's "Rocky" Stratocaster and Eric Clapton's "The Fool" SG, so no prizes for guessing what they are called...

Although not official, I often shorten my references to my Yamaha acoustic to just Yami and I tend to introduce my Lotus mandolin as "My little friend".

Hmm, maybe I should name mine! I didn't think about naming them because... normally I don't name inantimate objects, unless they're in the shape of antimate objects. Look its weird, don't ask. Anyway, I don't know if I should give them girl names or boy names! *ponders*

I always give my guitars names. Omar, Chuck, Debbie, Ricky, etc...
My electric Uke is Kitty because of its leopard pattern.

re: does your guitar have a name?
i've got two guitars, one electric and one acoustic, but it's only the avoustic one who have a name...its called 'Edward' and he looks like this http://www.ibanez.com/images/acousti...s/AEG10EBK.gif
And then there's the elecrtic one, its an Epiphone Les Paul(and YES the name actually got me feeling more attracted to it)Standard sunburst http://www.janbrittenowen.com/gear/393713_lespaul.jpg ... i kinda regret the colour tho', i wish it was black....:( ANYWAY, it still needs a name!! suggestions??

My classical acoustic is named "Craig?" (I was VERY into Lennon's writing at the time that I got it)
And my little red uke is "Pokey" (as in "Gumby and...") I was little when I got it (hence it being named such a thing).
Haven't named my fluke yet.
And when I get an electric (one of these days)... dunno what I'll call it... hmm...

You have no idea how happy I am to have found this thread! I get teased for naming things in my life and now I see that I am not alone!
My guitar (which is an acustic Alverz that I love with all my heart) is named "Lenny." It is short for "Lennon" because John Lennon inspired me when I was 12 years old to learn to play the rhythm guitar. I dont' know when I stopped calling him Lennon and started in on Lenny, but Lenny it is!

Great story Starshyne. I think each musical instrument definitely has it's own personality! So I don't think there's anything wrong with naming them!
