Default Forget the Comb, Lend Me Your Car Redux

I thought I'd toss this question into the ring again. For two points, long before John Lennon owned a car, which friend gave him driving lessons, and who witnessed this on at least one occasion?

Since this seemed to be a tough one. I'll offer up a couple of hints. The 'driving instructor' was a life long friend to all of The Beatles. The person who witnessed him giving John a driving lesson was a Cavernite.

Could the friend who gave John the driving lessons be Pete Shotton? Is Cynthia Lennon considered a Cavernite? I'll guess she was the one to witness the driving lesson.

Good guess! It's not Pete or Cynthia.

Another hint, the guy in question attended the Liverpool Institute for Boys at the same time as George and Paul. The lucky fan wasn't a girlfriend of John's, but a fan who John also corresponded with in the early 60s.

The instructor was Neil Aspinall and Lindy Ness was the fan who witnessed Neil giving John the driving lessons.
