Default being a beatles' wife isn't easy: yoko ono

i wasn't sure where to post this article from july 3 hindustan times...

The widow of ‘Beatles’ singer John Lennon has offered her support to Sir Paul’s estranged wife Heather Mills, insisting that being a Beatles wife isn’t easy.

"I feel very bad for her. I know better than anyone what it's like being a Beatle wife; nobody gives you an easy time”, the Mirror quoted her, as saying.

It seems Ono has forgotten her bitter battle with Macca over the Beatles’ legacy, which she has been fighting for over three decades now, as she also, spoke out in support of McCartney.

"The thing I keep remembering is how, just before Heather gave birth to her and Paul's daughter, he told me how happy he was. He actually said: "I feel like I've been given a second life'” she added.

"They were really in love and it's very sad it hasn't worked out."

Thanks for posting this, karla. It's nice to hear that Yoko is sympathetic to both Paul and Heather.

That's nice that she's supporting both of them and isnt taking anyone's side.

between this article and the huggie-kissie pix of yoko and paul in vegas, i'm sensing the beginnings of a truce between them. hopefully this isn't simply a publicity thing.

I really don't know what is it, but I can't like her either.
I've tried to figure out what it is, but ...I just..hate her.
I feel terrible about it, because I've never evev met the woman,
but I really just don't like Yoko at all.

OH except in a dream...she just showed up all haughty and proud.
And I hated her. I was about to stab her in the neck or something..
I woke up scared of how much I hated her.
Please never ever let me be in the same state as her,
Because I don't want to get arrested for homicide!
=O

And quite frankly I don't want to live knowing that I'd killed someone.

That's quite extreme!!! Are you sure it's hate and not just a strong dislike?!

yeah I hope so.
Cuz I can't hate a person unless I've met them.
And even then it's hard.
But I'm really weird in my dreams anyways so I shouldn't take that seriously.
Actually in everyone's dreams I'm weird.

I dunno about Yoko. I like seeing her publicly take the high-road and not really taking anyone's side. Very out of character and a nice change of pace.
However, in an article posted over on Beatle's Radio, they report her sitting down next to Cynthia Lennon, of all people, at the Las Vegas LOVE show and saying something akin to, "thanks for coming to my party." If she really said that little gem of a sound byte then she's mistaking her place in Beatle lore.
This sounds more like the Yoko I've read about (notice I didn't say know, since I don't actually have any first hand knowledge of the woman), but who knows?

Back to the subject at hand....it's nice of her to show support. Altho' she knows what it's like to be the wife of a Beatle, she's not the only one. But it is nice of her to not take sides.

Aww, it's so hard being rich and famous.

do you really think being rich, famous, and scrutinized in the press is harder than having to work for a living?

That's disturbing. I'm not sure I'd share this sort of information with people.

I think it speaks well of her not to take sides. Kudos to Yoko for being supportive. She is in an excellent position to speak to this subject - she and John hit some rough spots during their marriage, most notably during the 1974-75 "lost weekend."

I wonder how anybody here can hate Heather. Since I don't know her personally and she has never done anything to me nor anybody I know, I bear her no ill will. How will hating her help anything and what will that accomplish? I wish her well; I am sorry her marriage did not work out and that the expectations on both sides were not met. Sadly, it happens. It's an unfortunate part of life and I take the position of it's not my place to judge and I wish her well and am glad for whatever support she gets.

That is a really sweet article. I hope they can make some sort of truce, or at least a mutual respect. I think that's how John would have wanted it.

Now that I think about it, didn't Paul stay mum during this time? I mean, he never came out and said anything about John finally "wising up" or anything hurtful when John was with May Pang. I don't think he was critical when John became a house-husband when there was no such thing and it was seen as unmanly.
To me, the class act has and will always be Paul. It is nice to see that now he and Yoko can be class acts together for the betterment of the Beatle legend.
