Default That What Set The Ball Rolling...

Who gave George the meditation book that converted him into a follower of Hare Krishna?

Wasn't it a guy on bike while filming Help!, or is that Swami Vishnu?

From what I read in I Me Mine, the Help thing was fake, mr. Swami was the one with the present on George's birthday 1965, but he writes he did not start reading that one till years later, so..

There are two responses that I've heard: 1) The swami who gave George the book during HELP! filming was named Swami Vishnu Devananda. In the book "The Quiet One" by Clayson, he says that Patti was reading this and gave it to George.

Sadly fabfan, you have posted twice, which means you are disqualified from this question. (That isn't including the double post).

From what I heard it was an Indian person who appeared out of nowhere on a bicycle, cycled up to George, gave him the book, then cycled off again, but you lot think it was Swami Vishnu Devananda. I won't finish this question yet, so the people who said it was the swami can show me quotes. Otherwise it's Sally who gets the point.

the book I Me Mine, beginning of Chapter III

quote
Derek Taylor: 'Wehave not talked much of India. In 1965 there were hints. In Help, in a scene where they were riding bicycles, they were sitting on the corner of a rad in Nassau, waiting for the camera crew to line up another shot'

George Harrison: 'The Goodyear blimp was up above and we were waiting for instructions and Swami Vishnu Devananda walked up; he was the first Swami I met and he obviously knew we were there.
It was also my birthday, 25 february 1965. I was 22, and he told me years later that whilst meditating he had a strong feeling that he should make contact. He gave us a book and I did not look at it in detail for some time, but at a later date (I was getting to the point where I wantedto go back to India,to Rishikesh, because from what I had gathered, Rishikesh is very good for me). I found the book that he had given me all those years before and I openend the cover and it had a big OM written on it. He was from the Forrist Hill Acedemy of Rishikesh.
