Re: One more question What about Yoko?
I have a lot of respect for Yoko as an artist and as a human being.
I do not think she's a good lyricist but that's hardly a fault.

Re: One more question What about Yoko?
I truly dislike Yoko, especially when she forbade any of John's family from attending his funeral.

Harbidge,
There was no funeral, only a 10 minute worldwide silent vigil.
How can Yoko forbid John's English relatives from an event that never happened?

Re: One more question What about Yoko?
Yoko dissed Julian in the settlement of John's estate, and did whatever she could to keep them from getting close. Julian had it bad enough (living from holiday to holiday ) with a famous Dad who was never home. A very selfish woman at all costs. And her "vocalizing" gives me a headache also.
I don't care for her at all.

How are Yoko and Sean NOT John's real family?
I saw nothing wrong in what Yoko did, better than the morbid circus that was Elvis' funeral.
My view on Cynthia is she's mad because she couldn't get A Twist Of Lennon republished to cash in on the 60th birthday and 20th death anniversary.
Also, why 3 weeks after the murder, why did she after being divorced from him for 12 years, suddenly become Cynthia Lennon again?I took it as having to regain her "celebrity" status, same as Priscilla Presley(who had renarried after Elvis) suddenly after that death suddenly reclaim the Presley name?

Re: One more question What about Yoko?
You really ought to have read what Harb said properly.
If you did not see the programme in question (John Lennon Night - Channel 4, UK - which is what Michael was talking about), then you have no right to comment.
Cynthia Lennon did not make any proclamations. She did not edit the programme.
99% of what she said was to do with the teenage John Lennon, and when they were together, in love, as a young couple.
When John Lennon was murdered, it took everybody by surprise, so naturally Yoko's response might not have been perfect, or particularly appropriate - I think we can forgive her for that, she just lost her husband. However, the UK based Lennon family felt very hurt that they weren't notified of the arrangements of John's funeral - or the lack of. They were dealt with in a crude manner, at a vulnerable time.
You talk about Cynthia Lennon wanting to regain her 'celebrity status' - that's utter nonsense.
She's never wished to be in the public eye, from day one. Yoko, on the other hand.....she'd do pretty much anything. That's okay, I'm not knocking her.
At the end of the day, everybody's entitled to their fifteen minutes of fame (I'm not an Andy Warhol fan, don't like his work much, but HE's very interesting).
Just my opinion, I think Cynthia Lennon had to go through as much pain as Yoko did, perhaps more so. All those years without John, raising a child by herself. And, whatever Yoko lost when John Lennon was killed, I think Cynthia lost too.

Re: One more question What about Yoko?
Maybe so,but at the time she was married to her 3rd husband,John Twist.I'm sure John T. really LOVED his wife using the surname of John L.
I have always felt that Yoko has been dumped on more than she has ever deserved to be.
As for the special, all I have heard about it in e-mails is that there was nothing at all on it that hasn't been oft-repeated over the last 20 years. Really just a video version of the Goldman book.
BTW-Fred Seaman in the usenet forum in December 99,was running around stating that Yoko was involved in John;s murder and when called too task on it,admitted he didn't really beleive that. Also made "jokes" that Yoko tried to seduce Julian and that I was C****** (I ain't btw-see for yourself at http://www.timbrent.net/about.html A good bit of what I have been told May Pang said did not exactly jibe with Loving John.

Re: One more question What about Yoko?
It was on this Lennon night we had here. Yoko forbade all of John's family from going over to New York. Instead of a funeral, which is what John's real family wanted, Yoko cremated John. Yoko wanted Julian to go over, but when Cynthia wanted to go with him for support, she said to this that Cynthia can't go, and so Julian can't go. "It's not like we're schoolfriends, Cynthia" Said Yoko.

Re: One more question What about Yoko?
I never was much interested in Yoko at all, but this does not mean that I respect Yoko for giving John a life of love.
I saw just now a TV program originally from the UK Channel 4, which is about Yoko's life in general and ofcourse her and John.
What I saw in the BBC TOTP2 program too, is that they were always together and happy. Let them.
Here you have this woman who was married to John. He came into her life, not the other way. As said by a friend in the program. She was there at the shooting, she saw it happening.
Did she do anything wrong?
Are we sure that the 4 would not have separated in 1970 or close after that?
Let her go on with her life.

Now I don't think that's especially true.. if John didn't care an inch about Cyn than the marriage wouldn't have lasted as long as it did in the first place.
And besides.. John didn't seem the kind that would get married just cause the girl was preggy..

Re: One more question What about Yoko?
It seems that there was an article in the Daily Express, July 25 this year, where Cynthia said;
I didn't like him. He was a scruffy, dangerous-looking and totally disruptive.
He frightened the hell out of me.
When he discovered drugs I lost him. He had decided his path in life and there was nothing I could do about it. He would just take acid every day hoping to escape from me, from Julian, from the Beatles.
Now who is the spooky one.

Re: One more question What about Yoko?
You're quoting her out of context, and missing out what followed. She was scared, correct. Then they fell in love.
As for you, Eppy.....you haven't quite got your facts right either.

Re: One more question What about Yoko?
LenMac,
This is what I read in a Beatles FanMagazine, so if you have any additional quotes let me know please so I can let the editorial staff know, so maybe the missing part - indeed it goes from the intro days direct to the drug days - can be added at the next issue.
