Oh, I love that fact as well. I mean, John was the most difficult one, I'm sure. But that yin/yang is so powerful with him...because no matter how deep his darkness went, his light was equally (if not more) powerful. And it all balanced out into something really rare.

Here's another one of those checklists that John wrote for Fred. Supposedly dated 5/25/1980.

Transcript:
  1. What was the result of taking Y's spoiled blouse to cleaners?
  2. Why not?
  3. Chicken
  4. Strawberries
  5. Spinach (Peas)
  6. Carrots (Better Nature has some good organic ones) *
  7. Apples (?) Blueberries:
  8. Try not to leave letters & mags in office all day/everyday.
  9. Billy Graham (new book on him)
  10. Get some nice white flowers and put on Y's desk (in vase) from 'Daddy & Sean'
  11. 1 (one) Yogurt (Plain) *

I guess I could be macrobiotic also... except for the chicken, his grocery shopping list looks exactly like (part of) mine!

Default John and the quotidian...

He was a bit of a control freak, wasn't he? He didn't trust Fred with enough sense to know the flowers should be put in a vase before putting them on Yoko's desk? He had to write it down on the list to prompt Fred to do so?

And actually, that grocery list looks exactly like mine, including the chicken and minus the peas.

Why of course. Don't overestimate Fred here! Frankly, it looks exactly like the kind of list I write for MY boys. Otherwise smart but, when it comes to household chores and shopping, I do wonder every time. Thank goodness for cellphones. "Honey, they're out of regular cream. Should I take sour cream instead?" <- true story

Whoa. That's pretty bad, hib!

I just can't get this mental image of Fred out of my head, just plopping a bunch of white flowers, sans vase, on a desk, and the flower stems are wet and dripping all over the paperwork....

Well, speaking from personal experience, I'd say no, probably not. Just a gentle dig from an exasperated John. I mean, we don't know how Fred managed to screw up last time. So now he's not taking any chances - even about the flowers!

I understand you, Scruffie

Me too, I love John for his quotes can be applied on everyone. It seems that he put all humans on the same level, which I found amazing for an artist who was talented above average.

Here's the entirety of that tv appearance that Scruffie posted earlier. Apparently it was aired on WNET public television. Thank goodness for public television! Think I'll make a pledge to my local station now...

Anyway, not such great quality, I'm afraid... and definitely not very watchable. But a must-see (in small doses) for serious Lennon-heads, I suppose.

It's certainly possible, probable even... That've location of the white flowers needed to be listed because not only had John put them on Yokos desk in the past, but also in the bedroom, on the kitchen or dining room table, various windowsills, etc

You have to say where you want them, thats all.

Well, the quality of those videos is still better than the performance of Yoko IMHO.... but I guess it's a must-see for all Yoko-fans

Even for a serious "Lennon-head" like me, it's barely watchable Honestly, I will never understand how John could abase himself to participate in such a crap That's truly under his intellectual level.

My dear Snoopy, you are indeed Menlove's arbiter elegantiae...not quite like Petronius Arbiter, in fact far from it, but still...

As far as the video and its relationship to art goes, gee, where is Thomas Kinkade when you need him, huh? Or the guy with the perm that used to paint little trees?

Oh well, it's bit off topic, but it's not bad

At least, this guy is doing/painting something which makes sense (can't pretend that from Yoko, sorry).

Eh, not necessarily (and yes, I know you're being sarcastic). I don't 'get' that stuff either, but I know some people do, different strokes for different folks. There are a lot of things that I don't get that other people love and a few things that I love that other people are like "HUNH?" about...and it doesn't appear to have anything to do with intelligence or perception or even "art", it's just....individual taste.

Not getting it, even thinking it's nonsense to you is cool, saying there's nothing TO get, or calling other people out for liking it, is kind of uncool. And I think that kind of goes both ways...
