Default Favourite George song, excluding the "3 Big Ones"

I thougt of starting a topic asking you wich is your favourite Beatles song written (only) by George.

Then I realized that most probably you would answer or Something, or Here Comes The Sun or While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

So, to make things a little bit more interesting, the question is: excluding the songs mentioned above wich Beatles song composed by George you like the most?

And those are:

Blue Jay Way
Don't Bother Me
For You Blue
I Me Mine
I Need You
I Want To Tell You
If I Needed Someone
It's All Too Much
Long, Long, Long
Love You To
Old Brown Shoe
Only A Northern Song
Piggies
Savoy Truffle
Taxman
The Inner Light
Think For Yourself
Within You Without You
You Like Me Too Much

May seem odd but for me it's Savoy Truffle. I've loved it since the first time i heard it. I just think it has an awesome groove going. I also dig the horns in it.

Thumbs up

Hmmm... from that list I would probably say If I Needed Someone. (Although I'm also a Within You, Without You fan... just not in my top of anything list.)

However, All Things Must Pass is my all-time fave George song. He wrote it as a Beatle... it almost counts.

there was a time when Old Brown Shoe was a favorite, i liked the crunchy piano, guitar and the nonsense lyrics, but honestly... having a favorite George song is impossible, just like it's impossible to have a favorite Beatles tune.

Definitely "Within You Without You". I love what the song says, and I like the whole "raga" bit as well.

Within You & Without You. So deep to have been written by such a young guy.

It is impossible to have a favorite Beatles song, as there are too many great ones that come from such different eras. It's particularly difficult to nail-down a favorite Lennon/McCartney Beatles song.

On the other hand... since George had relatively few Beatles songs, and he didn't start getting really good at writing until 1966-ish, it's not that hard to pick a favorite or two from him.

Post-Beatles George? Yeah, that's a tall order.

Hello;

I would say my top three are You Like Me Too Much;Within You Without You

and The Inner Light.I just cannot decide.

My favorite Beatles moment of all time is when Within You segues into 64.I just

love the contrast from something so heavy to something so light.

I always liked "Piggies." In fact, I always felt it was one of the best songs on the White Album, and when I was younger I felt it was a turning point in George's songwriting. (Not sure I feel that way now.) I also really like "Old Brown Shoe" and "For You Blue."

For me, "Old Brown Shoe" would be at or near the top.....but I've always thought his very first song, "Don't Bother Me", is vastly underrated... it's a great song!

(As for his post-Beatles work, "Isn't It a Pity" is a masterpiece)

"It's All Too Much".
I've never been a fan of the indian-inspired songs.

I'd have to say "I Want to Tell You", which seems to have a deeper meaning that what comes through in the lyrics. I always think of this song when I have a disagreement with someone.

I also love Old Brown Shoe... catchy! I'm always in the mood to hear it.
