An Oscar For Peter Gabriel?
Peter Gabriel was nominated for an Academy Award for Best vSong........'Down To Earth' from WALL-E.
Speaking of Peter Gabriel........I read that he said he wants to tour with Genesis and make this one a true reunion. He had 'prior commitments' during last years Genesis tour.

I don't know if the comments about a Genesis reunion can be taken seriously.
Peter can be saying he will and he won't do a reunion on the same day.
I don't think he is really missed anymore.Whatever you might think of Phil's solo work, or the last few Genesis albums even, live Genesis stood as a house and Phil carries the early material greatly without Peter.
Haven't seen Wall E, or heard "Down To Earth".

FYI - Phil Collins has been nominated and won Academy Awards, Grammys, Golden Globes and many other awards. His previous Academy Award win was for 'You'll Be in My Heart' from Tarzan. He is one of the few entertainers to win an Oscar, Grammy and Golden Globe.

I like Sledgehammer. I'm glad this song from WALL*E is nominated. I liked the end credits for the movie.

I LIKE Sledgehammer! That's the song that got me into his music.
I'm glad he's nominated. I hope he wins!

I hope he wins too! (Mainly cuz of my Pixar bias-ness) But WALL-E (which has a total of 6 nods) was a great movie and Down To Earth is a really catchy song, I like it a lot.

I heard that they could get together to do the LLDoB, but I fail to see how PG will be able to sing all of those songs. Plus, they don't really know if Hackett would be willing to rejoin.
I saw Genesis in June of 2007 in Paris, and Peter Gabriel the following month at a summer festival in Brittany. Genesis was an amazing show. I was blown away, it was the best two and a half hours that I have ever spent at a concert. Genesis was tight onstage, they made no mistakes, and the sound was out of this world. Everything was perfect. I'm still in awe.
Peter Gabriel show was "good", but he really lacks Phil Collins' professionalism and a voice. His voice isn't the same as it used to be. It is far too deep now to be able to sing most of the old Genesis prog songs. Sorry to say, but I did not really enjoy Gabriel's performance. He forgot a lot of the lyrics to his own songs, albeit that most were songs that he hadn't sang for years; but then he should have taken the time to rehearse more. Don't do a small European tour and fudge up the lyrics on most of your songs...(and even one that he's been singing for over 30 years - Solsbury Hill). If he cannot remember a song that lasts for three or four minutes, how would he ever sing the entire score of the Lamb, or even one 20 mintue song like Supper's Ready? On top of that, his daughter Melanie Gabriel is a backup "singer", and she wouldn't even be able to sing for her supper. Plus, she's got ZERO rythm and does these awkward movements on stage that I am supposing is dancing. Nice of dad to give her a free ride, but it would be helpful if she could stay in tune...
As for "Down to Earth", I don't like it. I'm not sure what other songs are nominated in the same category but I hope they win. Gabriel has become a complete sap, and everything he does has to have this "Animal Nation" kiddy feel to it. Yes, I do realize that it was a song for a children's movie, but I still don't like the song. I preferred Gabriel when he wasn't such an old fart, singing songs like "Morimund the Burgermeister", "On the Air" and "No Self Control". Then again, this is just my opinion...
