Remembering buying Beatles Albums
Only my second post since finding this site, so here goes:
Just a good memory for me.
I was on vacation with about a dozen friends camping on a beach in a place called Tenby, South Wales, U.K. when Sgt Pepper was released and was waiting for the record store to open that day.It was half way through the vacation and I had the album but was unable to play it and dying to know what it was like! Two of us decided we couldn't wait any longer, so we cut our vacation short and drove home so that we could listen to it.
It was well worth the drive, and we played it constantly, trying to play along with our guitars(very badly I should add!) but loving every minute of it.
I would change that memory for anything!!
I have a teenage daughter now, and it's difficult to explain to her how it felt to be in possession of a brand new Beatles album, wondering what wonderous new lyrics and sounds they had come up with and knowing without any doubt that it would be brilliant!
I'm glad I was a teenager when The Beatles came on the scene. There's alot of good music around now, but I wonder how many of todays tunes will still be whistled, hummed and sung in forty years time?
Or am I just getting old!
O.K. you don't have to all shout YES at once!
Thanks for indulging an old fart!

Re: Remembering buying Beatles Albums
Hello!! Thanks for sharing that beatiful memory of your Sgt Pepper days...I listened that album for the first time when I was about eleven years old, but it was already released 25 years ago. Yes, I'm fourth generation fan, but I love them like I was living in the '60s. I believe too that the most part of today's music, won't be recognized as the '60s, '70s and'80s music...so you're not getting old, you're realistic

I was also a teenager when that happened. I remember giving my mother $4.99 to buy Sgt Pepper for me when she said that she was going to the department store.

Re: Remembering buying Beatles Albums
When Rubber Soul came out, I bought it immediately, and my friend stayed overnight for the occasion and we listened to it over and over for hours. We were like 14 years old.

Re: Remembering buying Beatles Albums
Hard to believe but I bought that very same album in CD format of course, 35 years later.
And I think the emotions are still the same.
Only The Beatles.
