Original retail album prices

Anybody remember what the original retail prices were for the U.S. albums? I seem to remember either $2.98 mono/$3.98 stereo or $3.98 mono/$4.98 stereo
for the early single record albums. Don't remember later single album or double album prices.

Any information anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I bought mine in the 80's new at Sound Warehouse, were still less than $10.

I've got a Beatles VI lp, from my landlords, that still has the shrinkwrap on it, with a price sticker included. Priced at $3.79, marked down from $4.89. I got a Dusty Springfield lp from them as well, which is similarly priced. Just don't know precisely when they bought them though.
