Memory Almost Full Listening Parties
Here's information on the Memory Almost Full listening parties:
+++++
EXCLUSIVE: Listening Parties Film Crews/Locations/Times/Info
May
19 Source: Mike Kovacich
Updated: May.19,2007 13:52
As was mentioned in the press release, the "Global Listening Event", it was announced that film crews will be at 10 specific Starbuck locations to film the listening parties and the historic fan participation in the unique video tribute honoring Paul's birthday. MACCA Central is privy to some additional information I can now release. Below is a preliminary list of the 10 Starbuck locations and times the film crews will be at. Fans are encouraged to dress up, bring signs, lyric sheets, guitars, whatever. Oh yes and be sure to bring a good attitude to have some fun ! Sing-alongs are encouraged but remember this is a celebration of Paul McCartney's Memory Almost Full, not a Beatles singfest. This is quite a unique opportunity for fans to get a message to tell Paul in their own words and with signs & banners. Video from this event will be made available shortly afterwards and on Paul's 65th birthday, June 18th. Stay tuned for updates on this and related topics.
It should be noted that crews from other news media may also be present at various locations. There will be further important announcements on this very shortly so stay tuned to this space on MACCA Central and stay tuned to MACCA Radio for live announcements as they arrive.

Since this is about Paul's solo work, I'll move this to Red Rose Speedway.

They should have totally had one here. They could have PACKED the biggest Starbucks in town (and that place is pretty big)! Oh well.

Riiiiight. There's nothing more inherently "evulllllll" about Starbucks than there is about a record company. Popular music has always had a commercial aspect to it. Nobody gets into the music business to NOT sell their material.

It should be about the music!!!! I dont disagree that people dont want their music to sell but I dont believe Starbucks give a shit about the music. They have signed up a big star to help revitalise the company and it sucks!

I agree with this, besides, I think Starbucks is doing just fine, look at what they want for a cup of coffee and people flock there in droves everyday like it is the next best thing to sliced bread

Maybe (probably) they don't care, but it is a business after all. I think it is a brilliant move on their part, the extent of their distribution channel is undeniable.
Don't forget, Paul cares. He looked at this relationship and realized we are living in a drastically changed music environment. The old business models aren't as profitable as they once were and they don't pull in new fans a readily as they once did. I personally don't like the movement away from specialty music stores and I would venture an educated guess Paul does not either.
The reality is, if a major artist wants to be relevant - we know Paul has always been driven by success - they have to place their product where it has the greatest opportunity to be seen and heard.
FYI Starbucks purchased an experienced record company (Concorde) with experienced personnel to handle the record administration. It's not like they got their Starbucks cronies and expected them to produce a record.
