There was an article in yesterday's N.Y. Daily News saying that it was Paul's late wife, Linda, who encouraged him to have his poems published. He's dedicating the book to her, too. I don't remember any mention of a publishing date, but it sounded as if the book's already complete.

Here's the story from Billboard.com, you can read it at this URL:
http://www.billboard.com/daily/2001/0104_03.asp

Paul McCartney is compiling "Blackbird Singing," a book of lyrics and poetry, according to publishers.

The book, described as a "highly personal collection" by British publisher Faber and Faber on its Web site, will include previously unpublished poems and elegies to McCartney's late wife, Linda McCartney, who died of breast cancer in 1998.

W.W. Norton & Co., which has American publishing rights, plans to issue the collection in April in coordination with National Poetry Month. It will be published in Britain in March.

McCartney will be closely involved in the project throughout the editorial and publication process, the U.S. publisher said in an earlier statement.

"'Blackbird Singing' reflects the poetic vision and the transcendent emotions that have made Paul McCartney one of the most beloved poets in the world," editor Robert Weil said.
