Favourite Lennon rock vocal?
I think it's Dizzy Miss Lizzy.
A strange choice, you might say, given that it's one of their lesser known covers, but I think Lennon really belts it out most excellently.
What's yours?
(Corresponding thread on McCartney rock vocal, if you care.)

You're Gonna Lose That Girl is one of my favorites. Not a particularly challenging vocal but just delivered flawlessly. I suspect there'll be more than a couple who will say Twist and Shout.

I know this is messed up but You Can't Do That, LOL. When I first heard it I loved the ringing guitars that fall into that crunch-crunch rhythm, then I listened to the words. John delivered that song emotionally on all accounts. He got the sprit of that song across oh yeah. If you've ever been cheated on...Woah.

'It Won't Be Long' is one of my favorite John Lennon vocal's. I enjoy the band's earlier stuff quite a bit.

Too many to list. Going straight-up rock and sticking to Beatles songs, I'd put Don't Let Me Down high up on the list, though.

You're right, Col A -- I'd likely vote for "Twist & Shout" -- although "You Can't Do That" is also a good choice, Fleurette -- John Lennon was one of the most gifted vocalists of rock (as was Paul McCartney), and he could really belt it out.

oooo thats really tough! Um, I'd probably go with Twist & Shout mainly because I dont think anyone else could have sung it the way he did

Hmm... A difficult question... It's a tie between "Dizzy Miss Lizzy" and "Twist and Shout", but I think I'll vote for the first one. I think John really knows how to use his rock vocal.

THIS. I'm also getting more and more into the first three albums. It Won't Be Long is halfway a pop-punk sounding song as far as I'm concerned. Maybe that's going too far but it gives you so much energy.
OT: Not A Second Time and All I've Got to Do are other early standouts for John's singing. Those are hard to sing and not go off key.

"I'm So Tired". The vocal dynamics in that song are the best ever.

I think "Money" is an amazing rock vocal performance but "Twist and Shout" is probably better.
Considering that the version of "Money" the Beatles did on the Decca audition I've always thought it weird that Decca couldn't spot how great it was because it wasn't much different to the version which appeared on their second studio album.
