Beautiful picture Wallrus! It reminds me of that piece Yoko wrote last year for John's 30th. She said that right before they got into the limo to drive to the Dakota- where John would eventually meet his senseless demise- he pulled her aside and said "the most beautiful things" to her.

And then she ended the piece with one of the most incredible and passionate quotes I have ever heard a woman say about the man she loved:

"Did it matter that the whole world hated you if your guy loved you that much? Who cares if you had to live in hell with him? Some couples might be lucky to live in heaven. John and my heaven was in Hell. And we loved it. We would not have wanted it any other way."

Aaah, they look like ghosts, it's rather scary Well, John Lennon is and always will be a never-ending-suprise-box to me

Such a beautiful picture! I have to say, I really love this essay Yoko wrote for John in the New York Times entitled "The Tea Maker."

JOHN and I are in our Dakota kitchen in the middle of the night. Three cats — Sasha, Micha and Charo — are looking up at John, who is making tea for us two.

Sasha is all white, Micha is all black. They are both gorgeous, classy Persian cats. Charo, on the other hand, is a mutt. John used to have a special love for Charo. “You’ve got a funny face, Charo!” he would say, and pat her.

“Yoko, Yoko, you’re supposed to first put the tea bags in, and then the hot water.” John took the role of the tea maker, for being English. So I gave up doing it.

It was nice to be up in the middle of the night, when there was no sound in the house, and sip the tea John would make. One night, however, John said: “I was talking to Aunt Mimi this afternoon and she says you are supposed to put the hot water in first. Then the tea bag. I could swear she taught me to put the tea bag in first, but ...”

“So all this time, we were doing it wrong?”

“Yeah ...”

We both cracked up. That was in 1980. Neither of us knew that it was to be the last year of our life together.

This would have been the 70th birthday year for John if only he was here. But people are not questioning if he is here or not. They just love him and are keeping him alive with their love. I’ve received notes from people in all corners of the world letting me know that they were celebrating this year to thank John for having given us so much in his 40 short years on earth.

The most important gift we received from him was not words, but deeds. He believed in Truth, and had dared to speak up. We all knew that he upset certain powerful people with it. But that was John. He couldn’t have been any other way. If he were here now, I think he would still be shouting the truth. Without the truth, there would be no way to achieve world peace.

On this day, the day he was assassinated, what I remember is the night we both cracked up drinking tea.

They say teenagers laugh at the drop of a hat. Nowadays I see many teenagers sad and angry with each other. John and I were hardly teenagers. But my memory of us is that we were a couple who laughed.

Yes, I remember the article; I loved it too.... like I love all this kind of stories about John.

Most of them are very simple, funny, never boring and always show how the "human" John were in real life, and not only the "musical" Beatle-John in the spotlight

C'mon Yoko, why don't you write your memories about you and John ??

Default How can Snoopy dislike her so?

Look at this lovely smile and her cute hat. Ugh, Yoko, you are a 78 year-old goddess!

For a woman nearly 80 she looks AMAZING!!! I've never been a fan of Yoko's (sorry but can't stand her um...singing?) but I'm in awe of her looks over the years and how well she has aged. I think she could still pass for late 40's early 50's??

I think she got her front teeth capped and her teeth bleached, or maybe it is a bridge. I don't know that she's had any other work done, though. She's in great shape. She looks better than poor Cynthia and May these days, that's for sure.

She's had less than Paul, that's for sure. I know Yoko eats healthy and I believe she practices/practiced yoga... but after all those ciggies and hard drugs, you'd think she'd be a little worse for wear. Anyway, I always tease my dad because he and Yoko are almost the same age and whenever he makes fun of her I remind him how good she looks and remind him that she's single and available.

How cute! Yoko can get it still.

I think it's a slap in the face to each and every one of those Beatles fans who called her "that ugly woman" when she was first getting with John, and throughout their marriage really. John would approve.

Default Well, if she's had work done...

I want the name of her plastic surgeon, because that person does AWESOME work. She still looks like herself and doesn't look like a weird puffed up botoxed corpse, like.... um.... Cher.

I don't think Paul has had any plastic surgery, he looks his age to me, but I do think he dyes his hair. Ringo does looks darn good for a 71 year old legend.
