More Anthology to come?
The latest edition of Beatles Unlimited Magazine has a 2003 interview with Ringo.
He is asked about the songs George, Ringo and Paul played 'live' for the production of the Anthology and why they didn't include them on the original Anthology.
This is what Ringo says (Thanks to Beatles Unlimited for permission to use this)
"Well, we do it in the end. We have Apple and they put it together, they have to pass it through to us.
When we agreed to do the Anthology, to all hang out with each other, first of all to record Free As A Bird, and then we hang out at George's, and there is actually a piece of it in the first Anthology, because we have that pull back shot of me doing Love Me Do. You know, if you give musicians instruments, they're gonna play. So we just jammed for an hour.
There's a lot more dialogue of us chatting around the table, of us sitting in the grass, there's more ukelele stuff and it's gonna be on DVD, and because it's DVD, then you can give them more information, and this is what we .. with the director and the producer of the Anthology think would be good. And that's how it becomes big. It did mess up my brain for a second, because I thought we had done the Anthology, but then a coupleof years later when they said "We've got more Anthology" I thought "didn't we do the Anthology? Okay let's go!"
So my friends, based on this, we may see even more Anthology *

You know me, the ever optimistic Legs, but have you checked the date of the interview. Isn't he talking about the DvD release of the Anthology with the special stuff added on the extra Dvd.

Yeah I know you never met a more optimistic man
it's a 2003 New York interview. I don't have the DVD set, so maybe you or anyone else can pick up things from this story which are 'ancient' now in 2004?

Re: More Anthology to come?
It sounds like the extra DvD that came with the Anthology DvD set.
There's more dialogue of them chatting around the table, of them sitting in the grass, there's more ukelele stuff and it's a DVD, and because it's DVD, it has more information. And a making of Antholoy documentary.

Re: More Anthology to come?
Just get a cheap one, otherwise you will spend another year deciding what to buy.

Re: More Anthology to come?
just a thought on this conversation, Legs do you think the '5th disc' is reason enough to buy a dvd player and the Anthology over again if you already have vhs version?

Re: More Anthology to come?
Don't get me wrong I am thrilled that I got a dvd player finally. The reason I bought a dvd player was because Ringo was on all the talk shows last year promoting the '5th disc'. I had just started this beatlemania chapter in my life, and just had to have it. I didn't even know, never heard of the Anthology before that.
However if I already had it on vhs I don't know if spending the money again to get it on dvd would be worth it. Couldn't FPSHOT just get some one to tape the 5th disc for him?
However DVD quality is fantastic I will never 'go back' to vhs. So if it is time to get dvd then it's time to get dvd.

Re: More Anthology to come?
I would definetely buy a DVD player if I hadn't got one already to see the 5th disc.Seeing them talking and playing together is just priceless.
