Scorsese Finishes George Harrison Doc; Looks For Release Date
Posted on 15 May 2010 by Eric Seemiller in News
Martin Scorsese no doubt has a penchant for rock docs, in the vein of No Direction Home, Shine A Light, and my favorite The Last Waltz. There had been rumors that he was working on a documentary on George Harrison and Variety [via ThePlaylist] is reporting that he is finished.
The picture, which is now titled Living In A Material World: George Harrison, is currently being pitched at Cannes and is seeking a release date for 2011. The flick takes the name from Harrison’s spiritual 1973 album. Many of Harrison’s friends/contributors are involved in the project: Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, Eric Idle, Tom Petty, Yoko Ono, Phil Spector, and his wife Olivia Harrison.

I'm really looking forward to seeing this film!
Maybe they'll show a preview of it at a Beatles Fest somewhere along the line before it comes out! :)

I'm really looking forward to this! I must say I was surprised to hear Scorsese was making this. I just so associated him with The Band and particularly, The Rolling Stones. I never would have guessed he liked The Beatles, even a little.

Awww sweet! That's cool Martin Scorsese, THE Martin Scorsese who also directed Goodfellas (one of my favorite films by him) directed the documentary! I can't wait to see it! ^.^

I was wondering what was going on with this. That makes 2 movies I'll want to see next year (and 3 in 2012)

This is an Oscar winner waiting to happen. I am certain he did George justice and honored him - warts and all- for the beautiful soul that he was.
To win the award is more than that... it would also make possible for those who wouldn't otherwise see this film to have a look at it... and then... to see the real man we know... and what they've been missing all these years.
