Default What was the last album that the group Wings worked on

Lets get this discussion going, cause while I don't want the point on the monthly contest, I don't think the answer given is the right one.
Before I go further, the question that need to be asked is who are Wings? While I won't say that Wings are just Paul and Linda McCartney I think it's fair enough to say that when you just add Denny Laine you have Wings, since other members just came and went and the three of them, recorded "Band On The Run" and much of "London Town" alone.

While Wings in October 1980 in fact were doing more work on the Hot Hits, Cold Cutz album, since it was never released it is not at all sure what the eventual title was going to be. In fact, the title was changed into just Cold Cuts after Wings greatest was released. But we simply can't hang an definite title to the unreleased album. Furthere more during the same sessions they also worked on songs later to be released on "Tug Of War" and "Pipes of Peace" and Denny Laine worked together with the McCartneys during 1981 recording more songs that appeared on these two albums.
So if the question "What was the last album Wings worked on" was going to be asked to me again, my answer would still be "Pipes Of Peace", thanks for listening, again I don't want the point, I want to be right

Reading another book,The ultimate recording guide, the title mentioned for the October session is also just Cold Cuts.

I'm sorry if the last question in the contest got you all a bit perplexed. Technically, Back To The Egg was the last Wings album released. They did meet in a "secret studio", later to be known as Park Gate Studios, to begin work on the next album. That was in October 1980.

Of the three books I used on this matter; "Eight Arms To Hold You", The Beatles After The Break-up 1970-2000" and "The Complete Idiot's Guide To The Beatles"; the evidence shows that Hot Hits & Cold Cutz was the last album the group worked on.

The next official album to be released was Tug Of War, but it was credited as a Paul McCartney LP, not Wings. The same holds true for the album McCartney II, which was the only official album released between Back To The Egg and Tug Of War, no credit to any form of Wings. Denny Laine appeared as a guest musician on Tug Of War and Pipes Of Peace.

I hope this clears things up enough for you.

<font size="2" face="Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif">Well it clears things up just a little bit.
I also have the Beatles after the breakup, and that same book also says that they did work on songs that later apeared on Tug Of War and Pipes Of Peace, plus I'm about 100% sure that the title of Hot Hits and Cold Cutz was dropped by this time. The thing that s@#s however is that, some books mentioned it as a title and others just Cold Cuts, but in the past I have checked this more carefully.
So Denny was mentioned as a guist, yes that's true but Denny finally quit in 1981 and Tug Of War was released in 1982. Plus Cold Cuts, or whatever the title was going to be, we just don't know for sure, wasn't released at all, if it was released now it would be just Paul McCartney, with maybe some guests.
But I leave it to rest now.

I got my answer from Lewisohn's "The Beatles: Day by Day":

For October of 1980 it said "Wings' have their final recording sessions, working on an album of out-takes and never-released post-1970 McCartney material called Hot Hits and Cold Cuts."

I'm not saying this is the definitive answer for the question--it was just my source for my guess.

Sorry one thing more, again imo Wings is Paul Linda and Denny, so the three of them worked on songs for Tug Of War, Pipes Of Peace, doesn't matter if it was released as just Paul McCartney.

Honestly I thought that after you said that mine answer was wrong, that Cold Cuts was the right answer. When you said that one of us was really close, I didn't thought of Sgt. McCartney cause even tho I thought of the title Hot hits, Cold Cutz to me that was the same as Cold Cuts (something I'll repeat for the last time, both Cold Cuts and Hot hits, Cold Cutz were going around as titles, but you can't say that is the title period, since the album was unreleased we don't know it for sure. Not that it helps to much, but a bootleg of the latest work for Cold Cuts is released under the name Cold Cuts). So instead of thinking that Sgt. was really close I thought that that was the wrong answer completly.

But I shall say no more, I explained what I wanted, presented my points.
Now if anyone else has more that can either back up Bearkats or my views, or something new like, Denny secretly recorded on "Press To Play" please tell.

In all fairness another book I have "The Beatles after the breakup" also mentioned the title of hot hits and cold cutz, but also that Wings were working on songs that later apeared on Tug of War and Pipes of Peace. And the title of Cold Cuts is also often mentioned in other sources.

A. You can't pin a title on the unreleased album.
Cold Cuts or they were working on an unreleased album were just as good as an answer as "Hot hits and Cold Cutz.
B. They also worked on songs for Tug of War and Pipes of Peace during the same sessions.
C. Denny Laine, during 1981, worked on songs for Tug Of War and Pipes of Peace.

"The last album the band Wings worked on, Cold Cuts, ..." and I quoted that site. So I just assumed the answer was just "Cold Cuts"

I should get .5 of a point.

So I get to say the last word then, very good I like that. Pipes of Peace is the final album Wings (Paul, Linda and Denny before he left) worked on.

Aaaah, feel so much better now.

Wouldn't it have been easier just to refer to Wingspan?
