this always gets me. you may have to see the complete movie for the same effect.

I love this one wallrus!!! This film was made by a pure Lennon fan, all the way. You have to see it just to know. Oh and it doesn't hurt that the great pop songwriter of the 20th century, George Gershwin, gets major attention as well!

RIP Johnny and John.

With all respect I have for Johnny Cash (I really do like a couple of his songs), but I don't like this cover; it's not a song for his rough voice I think, just too deep I guess
Though it was a nice tribute from Johnny to John.

I really dig it! I think the song takes on a whole new feel and meaning when it's sung by a 70 year-old man, especially one who's lived a life like Johnny Cash's! Very beautiful, in a non-conventional way.

I love Johnny! Obviously, I was in Nashvegas just a week or so ago and Johnny is nothing more or less than a pure icon. I adore his gruff, weary, lived take on this masterpiece. John would appreciate it. It's different, and different doesn't mean better, but can certainly give you a new perspective on such universally adored lyrics.

...btw, here's some audio of Phil Ochs talking to John about songwriting. Don't know where this is from, but my guess would be that it was taped at the time of the John Sinclair concert:
