Honey Don’t
I get the idea that Carl Perkins got the idea to write “Honey Don’t” by punning on the word “honeydew.” Seriously.

No matter what inspired the title, this is unquestionably the worst song in the Beatles' catalog. (The BFS version at least, I don't mind the John-sung one at the BBC)

IMHO, the worst song in the Beatles catalogue, melody-wise and harmony-wise, is “Baby’s in Black.” And I like the tune but hate the lyrics of “Run for Your Life,” which sound like a death threat (without any Randy Newman-like irony).
But we all have our favorites and our least favorites.

I like "Honey Don't" better than "What Goes On". Don't care much for a lot of Ringo's songs; "Don't Pass Me By" is mediocre too, and I can't listen to "Yellow Submarine" anymore. The early ones like "Boys" and "Matchbox" are okay. "Octopus's Garden" is okay just for Harrison's guitar work. I realize they wanted to give Ringo a song per album or so, but I don't think they put a lot of effort into them.

When they guys decided to record it they should've listened - "honey don't!"

LIKE
I know they wanted to give Ringo a vocal spotlight and all (especially since he didn't get one on the previous album), but seriously, they shelved "Leave My Kitten Alone" for this?

I'll choose "Honey Don't" over "Birthday" and "Mr. Moonlight" ANY day!

When discussing least favorite Beatles songs, Mr. Moonlight is mentioned w regularity. I find this puzzling. It's my favorite song from BFS and one of my favorite Beatles covers. Is it the Latin feel that people don't like?

I don't dislike "Mr. Moonlight," but the organ solo is so un-Beatles-like, and the harmony vocals are pretty turgid. John's lead vocal is fantastic, but even with that, it's hard to ignore the fact that the song peaks in its very first second.

I dont have a problem with Honey Dont actually, be it the John version or the Ringo version. I would probably pick it over What Goes On too.

Lots of the early covers are a bit lame to be honest. It is not what their legacy is built on.

Agree. But Honey Don't is okay.
Agree about Baby's In Black. Horrible arrangement.

Especially in an album that includes Ticket To Ride, Help, Yesterday, I've Just Seen a Face....
Actually come to think of it Dizzy Miss Lizzy sucks hard too. That lead guitar line just grates the hell out of me. I've never heard the whole thing.... Were the Beatles trolling us with this one?
Maybe Help should have been an e.p

I think I made a thread here about Baby's In Black... Back in the good old days when people actually discussed music here.... I always though this song had a strange structure. There are no verses... It is if as though they just strung three choruses together and made a song out of it. If that makes any sense. It probably doesn't. Oh well I never claimed to be a professional critic.

And oddly enough John and Paul really liked "Baby's in Black". They played it on tour a lot, and at one point considered it as a single!

Yeah, the covers they chose for Help! were just absolutely awful. Were they going for a "Twist and Shout"/"Money"-style closer with DML? Because it's super-shoddy compared to those two.
I know that a lot of fans knock "If You've Got Troubles" and "That Means a Lot" (unjustly, IMO) but the Help! album would have been stronger with those two replacing the covers. Not to mention they had "Wait," which would have been a perfect closing track.
