John and Paul go solo in "Composing Outside the Beatles: Lennon & McCartney 1973-1980

Now on DVD: John and Paul go solo in "Composing Outside the Beatles: Lennon & McCartney 1973-1980"
After the Beatles broke up, the four lads from Liverpool embarked on solo musical careers in the 1970s, with varying degrees of success. The in-depth, unauthorized documentary, "Composing Outside the Beatles: Lennon & McCartney 1973-1980," compares the efforts of former songwriting partners Paul McCartney and John Lennon as they try to find their footing on their own.Vintage clips and performances mix with recent interviews with experts. While no Beatles songs are heard, probably due to licensing issues, the film does feature a lot of their solo work, from Paul's "Live and Let Die" to John's "Mind Games."

Why do we have to compare?
I'm so happy to have been blessed to be fans of The Beatles, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison AND Ringo Starr. I've also been fortunate enough to have seen 3 of the 4 Beatles.

... and what happened to 1970, 1971 and 1972 ?
"Give peace a chance", "Cold Turkey", "McCartney", "John Lennon: Plastic Ono Band", "Ram", "Wild life", "Imagine", "Power to the people", "Give Ireland back to the Irish", "Sometime in New York City"... don't count ?
Is there a special "landmark" or trend that started in 1973 for either one of them ?

Well, they *did* say the movie was the third of a trilogy...
Maybe the years 1969-1972 were covered in a previous video?
This is the first I have heard of this series. Anyone seen the first two?

Good point. Each Beatle was WAY beyond compare. Why compare them? They are all so different and yet, when they were together, their musical differences worked!

Yep, I'd just as soon "compile" them instead (along with George's and Ringo's solo ouputs)...
... the 1970 ex-fab album, the 1971 one ect...
For a few years there, if you took the best songs from each of them in a given time period, some of the albums those would have made would have been on par, if not superior, to many "actual" Beatle albums.
