Default How to download and convert videos from YouTube

Here's a guide to download, play and convert videos from YouTube.

Locate the video at YouTube by searching. Copy the link of the file. Go to www.keepvid.com and paste the link on the box provided. Click the download button. You get the download link. Right click and do 'save target as' for Internet Explorer or 'save link as' for Firefox. You can also paste the download link on to your download manager.

Once the file is downloaded, you'll see the extension is .flv (Flash video file). These files can be played on several players. I recommed the free FLV player http://www.martijndevisser.com/blog/...player-updated

The files can also be converted to your favourite video format. Download the free (actually shareware but as good as free) CinemaForge from here http://www.mediaforge.com/wrapfactory-video.aspx

Converting is quite easy. Select the file, the output format and specify the parameters (frame rate, audio quality etc) and your work is done.

Thanks Anurag. I'm a strict Firefox user and had tried the Greasemonkey method earlier but switched to www.keepvid.com which is more convenient and also supports those other sites with videos.
Will try out SUPER and let you know.

I was wanting to download the flash animated video for "Glass Onion" that some one linked to recently. (see it at http://70.85.186.86/albino_flash01/g...sheep.com).swf) I tried the techniques described here without success. Suggestions?

Ha ha ha... Tony you've provided the answer yourself! Just right click on the link you've posted and select 'save target as' for Internet Explorer or 'save link as' for Firefox. I just tried it out, it's a 2.2 MB file. Save it to your desktop or any other folder. It will be a .swf file. You can play it with many players, including SWIFF player (http://www.globfx.com/products/swfplayer/)
cheers!

Excellent! Thank you.

Ummm.... Okay, now that I have the file, does anyone know of a player for Mac OS X?

I apologize if this is a "duh!" answer... but QuickTime Pro should work, or Windows Media Player is one I use quite a bit (I'm on OS 10.3.9).

Good day to everyone. Itís good when you have your own IT team, experienced in development. If it is not, then the selection can take from two weeks to several months. Even better when the software development company knows the subject area. Otherwise, you need to spend as much time on her training. If you have time and money, so as not to go to the goal now, you can go the way of hiring and training your team. If there is no time, then you need to find a ready-made team outside the company.
