Ranked: John's Best Love Songs (according to OUR votes)
Okay, I took the poll results from the four polls 4iiiis created and decided to rank all the songs, from the highest number of votes to the lowest. There were a ton of songs that received the same number of votes, so I simply listed them alphabetically. It would have been way more awesome had MORE people voted, but it's all good.
Here are the results. What do you all think?
1. Woman
2. If I Fell
3. In My Life
4. Because
5. Jealous Guy
6. Julia
7. I Want You (She's So Heavy)
8. All You Need Is Love
9. Don't Let Me Down
10. Girl
11. Grow Old With Me
12. Oh My Love
13. Out The Blue
14. Bless You
15. Forgive Me (My Little Flower Princess)
16. I'll Be Back
17. (Just Like) Starting Over
18. Love
19. Yes It Is
20. You Are Here
"Woman" totally OWNED, as it received 7 votes. And "If I Fell" and "In My Life" had 5 votes each.
Personally, I think there's a LOT of really gorgeous stuff missing. Not too sure about this ranking order, yet this list is pretty great. It also makes you aware of just how many beautiful love songs John had written in his life. Kind of unbelievable. Opinions?

Phew! I changed it because I totally excluded "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" that got 3 votes...
It would be a great CD, wallrus. Though I do miss "Real Love" and tons of others.
It's interesting how "Woman" came up on top as the clear winner. Some friends of mine were discussing a few weeks back how that song in particular sounds like a Beatles song that could fit into Rubber Soul.

it's in the playboy interview in think.......but john said he always said (not quoting here ) to the band o k let's work on the beatles song when working on woman in the studio.
I'll Cry Instead is another great one, and underrated I think. It is full of emotional twists and turns. It really trumps other simple love songs of that period, I think.
It's a pretty good list of songs and when you make a CD of it then it's nice to play in the car as example.
One thing which surprises me a little is the ranking of "Because" since I never considered it so much as a love song. Same for All You Need Is Love. Okay it is about love and I believe more a universal message, but when I think of a love song I see it more in the personal way. A song which will touch someone and to be dedicated to. In that case each song with the word love in it will be a love song. "Love Is All" (the frog song) by Roger Glover, "I love chocolate"... etc etc.
Still, great polls, thanks for setting them up.

First, thank's for making the final list
I think it's a good and realistic list, although it's true that it could have been a bit longer; but, oh well. For instance, "That boy" is a nice love-song too.
I'm not sure if "Because" matches, as it's not a typical love-song for me and "In my life" is more an autobiographic song in my view. Further, I'd put "Jealous Guy" and "Girl" in a higher position, but of course, that's only my personal opinion and taste.
Yes, THANKS for compiling the list. I really dig the CD idea, but a very obvious omission, imho, is Oh Yoko. What a great song!! I know people who dislike Yoko who looooove that song!

I consider "Because" a love song. The whole "love is old, love is new, love is all, love is you" is extremely romantic to me. I would die if someone sang something like that to me. The entire song is absolutely filled with love and very beautiful imagery.
I agree 100% with you on "All You Need Is Love," though. That song is sort of an anthem, as George said, "PR for God" and not really a love song.
But I just recorded the votes.

I agree that "Oh Yoko" is a darling love song and I would have wanted it on my CD instead of "All You Need Is Love" and perhaps stick in "I Know (I Know)" and "All I've Got To Do."
Any others missing?
No arguments on "Woman" being number 1? I approve myself. "Woman" is a masterpiece in love song writing, quite honestly.
