I'm sorry but Chestnuts is a great song.Nat King Cole had a wonderful voice. He could make anything sound great. It dosen't matter that chestnuts roasting stink.Alot of good songs don't make sence.Heck,"I am the Walrus" makes no sence at all.But who cares.

I also have to stick up for Bruce. I always liked that version of Santa Claus Is Coming To Town.
Now on the can't stand side of things, I have to add that Dan Fogelberg schlop. I don't know the title, but it's about him meeting an ex-girlfriend in a grocery store then the two of them getting loaded on malt licquor in her car (and presumably her swerving home down the road to hubby later). Of course, his words are much more sappy than mine.

It should be against the law for anyone else to sing that song.

There's an 80s song that might be Blondie, but I'm not sure. It starts out with "Bah!" and then it segues into her calendar until it's Christmas. I don't know the name of it, but I think it is a stinker.
It makes me picture Santa with a purple Mohawk.

I don't dislike too many Christmas songs, but I'll admit to not being overly fond of Elvis', "Blue Christmas". Don't care for the song itself all that much and I just don't like the way he sings it.

It's "Christmas Wrapping" from a band named The Waitresses.
I actually like it, because it reminds me of some Christmas of my childhood.

Looks like this one got resurrected. I'm getting a little tired of the Christmas mix we have at work. Not because it's a terrible mix, but after hearing the same songs everyday (and the whole thing is only a couple hours long so I can hear it more than once a day) it gets tiresome...

I actually like that one!
One I could do without is "Baby, it's Cold Outside" and I am sick of those damn chestnuts. Did you know just how fetid and nasty roasting chestnuts smell? I'd rather smell feet and dog!
"I Saw Mama Kissing Santa Claus" is a very risque song. The part about tickling Santa under the beard...let's just say it's rather racy.
I don't like Randy Travis singing "Meet Me Under the Mistletoe" in that whiny, country falsetto. And I HATE the Chipmunks! I cannot stand the Chipmunks and would rather have otitis media than hear them, those screechathons that sound like they are being played at the wrong speed!

Ditto! Starting on Halloween, we've had to put up with the same tired mix of the same songs over and over until we're all ready to jump into a bowl of wassail!

There is a date-rape vibe to that song.

Not to mention they taste horrible.

it would have been nicer --- and more in keeping with the spirit of the season --- to have a thread about the christmas songs we like. besides, you can always pop in a cd of your choosing or change the station if you don't like someone else's playlist.
i loooove bruce's "scictt," annie lennox's "winter wonderland" and adam sandler cracks me up every time!

Couldn't agree with you more, my friend. If there's a song you don't like, don't listen to it. Change the station, skip the track, whatever it takes. It's all in keeping with the spirit of the season. BG always hated Little Drummer Boy until I played for him Bob Seger's version. Now, he says it's tolerable. So, if even my picky hubby can be reborn on a classic, I figure anyone can!

I despise "Rockin Around The Christmas Tree". I'm not to fond of "Little Drummer Boy" either.

Any song Reba McIntyre does and I don't like Jewel's rendition of "Joy to the World."
I, too despise "Rocking Around the Christmas Tree" and "Jingle Bell Rock" at all. I also detest the Chipmunks with their atrocious played-at-the-wrong-speed falsetto voices and that weird dude screaming "Alvin" at the drop of a hat and the Alvin character always acting a fool.
As talented as Bruce Springsteen is, I think he wasted his talent on his poor rendition of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town." I'm not wild about the song to begin with, but I really dislike his version.

Amen to that! I never thought much of that song to begin with, but I can't stand Bruce Screamsteen screaming that one out. I think he was wasting his talent on this turkey.
Any rap or reggae versions and I can't stand that cushion faced Mariah Carey screaming "All I Want for Christmas is You." That screaming banshee makes me want to listen to air raid sirens and I think Yoko sings much better than Mariah Carey! At least Yoko is not a screaming banshee.

*shudder*
I feel I must turn in my Mexican membership card because I don't like "Feliz Navidad".
