I graduated from HS in 71. We were still cool and coming off the 60s. I wore jeans and t-shirts. Same as today. I never wore wide lapels. I stayed very true to the hippy culture until the 80s.

I always liked hippie clothes and that was what I wore pretty much throughout the Stinky Seventies and eighties. No wide lapels; no paisley (although I was bought some ghastly paisley pants as a child which I wore only when forced to); no ruffles; no frills; no platform shoes and NO bell bottoms for BB1964! And you would never find me in punk regalia. No mohawks; weird hair colors like blue or purple and no torn, slashed clothing for me either. Hippie and prep, depending on my mood was what worked for me!

I loved platform shoes (still do). At 5'8 (then) I loved towering around 6 foot. Of course now I'm shrinking due to age, and could REALLY use the lift, but now I feel silly wearing anything too high. I used to wear my daughters platforms when they came back into style a few years ago. I have a girlfriend who never stopped wearing them because she was short!
