LOL I think I still have a couple Chipmunks albums somewhere... I know I had one where they sang country-western songs, and another one called Chipmunks Go Hollywood. True treasures of the early '80s.

to get an idea of the worst music in history, all you have to do is look at the Billboard or UK singles and album charts every week,

being 18 years old myself, it feels very odd to say something like that, but you cant beat the old greats, and when I say old, its all kind of new to me anyway, and I have no regrets about choosing this music ,

but I must admit, I have to disagree with a few comments on this thread, I do like 70's Elton John,

Me without the Chipmunks is like Robert Kennedy without a Mafia Godfather.

My idea of the worst thing EVER recorded is Shirley Ellis' late 1964 monstrosity "The Name Game." I think it is an insane word salad; hate it and when I was as young as 3 I would turn it off saying, "That's not a song. It's stupid and bad and those aren't real words." I would rather hear every siren, foghorn, leaf blower, vacuum cleaner and blender going off simultaneously (and I HATE the noises from these items) than that damn Name Game. It is truly asinine and I find it sheer torture. The Beatles didn't do crappy junk like that!

I don't like Sam La Sham & the Pharaohs' 1965 piece, "Wooly Bulls***" or another asinine song, "A One Horned Flying Purple People Eater" or that damn 1962 "Monster Mash." I just HATE that one!

See, I can understand (although disagree with) people saying anything of a specific genre. But an entire decade? Ignoring most of the solo Beatle efforts (only a handful of the ones in the 80s were decent), you still have songs like "Take on Me," "Shout," "What You Need," "Thriller," "Tempted"...

Don't like them either and the for me the Beatles solo stuff was not at its best in the 80's, call me fussy

But the 80's gave us REM and U2-- two great bands. We also got 'Shoot Out the Lights' from Richard and Linda Thompson--a desert island disc I forgot to put on my list.

The 80's also gave us Annie Lenox who sang beautifully at the Oscars.

The Chipmunks doing country is called "Urban Chipmunk". I know, I have it.
It came out just after the success of Urban Cowboy with John Revolting.

I'm a big C & W fan: Johnny Cash, Buck Owens, Willie Nelson, Hank Sr., Emmylou Harris,Gram Parsons. I'd say the worst music in history is the comtemporary pop-country of the Tim McGraw-Alan Jackson-Brooks & Dunn-Garth Brooks variety.

The Beatles even in their early days were writing and playing on records as well in concerts,both love ballads,and great rocking rock n roll and pop rock songs that they both wrote and cover songs including their great rocking performances in Sweden where the audience was quiet during their performances.

They were the greatest *rock* band ever! (NEVER A G*d dam*ed stupid,uncool,untalented boy band as so many ignorant morons misperceive them as!) And I have always loved this great blues rocker by Paul,She's A Woman.



Except live there isn't the piano,blending with the great rocking guitars,Paul's great prominent booming bass,and his great rock vocal! And once again it's amazing how good they sound on such limited,primitive sound systems of the time and with no feedback monitors so they couldn't even hear themselves singing and playing,yet they still played and sang great and in sync with each other.

As one of the members on here,who hasn't been on here for years,Reverend Rock,who is a rock musician,reverend and a big Beatles fan,said on a classic rock site many years ago when someone ignorantly called The Beatles a boy band,He said anyone who knows their history knows it's ludicrous to even *suggest* such a thing!

It is like all these groups making R&B Music, if you mentioned R&B in the sixties it was quite different music than what they for some weird reason call R&B artists these days.

Yes,and The Rolling Stones also wrote other type pop songs,Wild horses,Lady Jane,Happy,As Tears Go By,and the two dreadful disco songs,Emotional Rescue and Miss You etc.At least when Paul McCartney did disco music like Good Night Tonight it was good music!



In 1964 The Rolling Stones wrote and recorded a Rice Krispies TV commercial jingle not something cool like a cigarette ad and they also had teen girls screaming at their early concerts.Maybe The Rolling Stones should be called a boy band too.I'm pretty certain The Beatles never wrote and recorded a jingle for a cereal TV commercial.But it's obvious that The Rolling Stones did this for the same reasons The Beatles went along with the fake cleaned up image their manager Brian Epstein created,to get their foot in the door after working their a*ses off playing for years.

And John and Paul wrote one of the Rolling Stones first hits,the rock and roll song,I Wanna Be Your Man in 1963,and they wrote it right in front of them and Keith Richards and Mick Jagger were really impressed that they could write a song just like that,and it inspired them to start writing their own songs.And both bands became good friends from then on.

I'm with letmerollit 100%. When I was a very young child, I remember being irate to a great degree over those damn Chipmunks mutilating Beatle songs. I didn't like their played at the wrong speed falsetto voices to start with, but when they massacred Beatle classics, that tore it for me.
