The Dutch have been to relaxed about this and they did not deserve to make it.

If you play Portugal away game and 10 minutes before final whistle you lead 0-2 and leave the pitch with 2-2 and if you play so bad against Estonia (away game) and never convinced by gread, you can only blame yourself.

The coach last saturday should not have taken Overmars out cause he was the best and was on the left wing where most of the danger came from. Kluivert did not succeed in his role as #10 how we call it.

No I'm sorry and I saw tonight when we beat Estonia 5-0, but before we never played safe, thinking we would make it to Japan anyroad.

Isn't it a shame.

England's doing great!

Hope something good can come out of it, although I don't think so.

Not only did they lose lots of chances today to qualify, but they've lost chances throughout the whole qualifying campaign. Firstly, and as FPSHOT said about Holland, the same can be said for Yugoslavia in that at times they have played very poorly and just expected to win games. They led Switzerland 1-0 at home and conceded a goal in the last 5 mins to draw. They led Slovenia 1-0 away in the first game and conceded a goal in injury time to draw again. Same with Russia in the first game, they lost to a late goal. And in the second game against the Russians, it was a 1-1 draw and they were unlucky not to win in the end as Mihajlovic thundered a last-minute free kick off the crossbar. So, adding all that up, that's 6 points they lost that could easily have been their's now. If they had those 6 points (even 1 of those 6 points!) they would be assured of going through. The other thing was, in the game between Slovenia-Russia. This result totally cost us as we needed Russia to either win or draw, which would have put us ahead of Slovenia after the last game. It was 1-1 and looked like finishing that way, but then Russia conceded a VERY controversial penalty again in injury time (bloody English referee - all the referees hate Eastern European teams, that's just how it is), and it was clearly no penalty but Slovenia scored and escaped with a win that's the only thing that keeps them in front of Yugoslavia. So the only way we can get through now is if Slovenia draw with Faroe Islands next game (which they have drawn with them in their earlier meeting 2-2) so anything can happen, though it's very unlikely as the game is being played in Slovenia, so there doesn't appear to be much hope. In all honesty though, if they can't win these kind of games they don't deserve to qualify. They haven't had much luck so far in all the games, and they need quite a lot of it now to go through. At least if Yugoslavia don't make it, I hope that Australia can so I'll have someone to cheer for. If Slovenia finish second, I hope they lose to Romania, then I'll go for the Romanians too. I loved the way they played at the '94 World Cup.

As an additional date:
Argentina 2 - Brazil 1 (today in Buenos Aires)
Paraguay 5 - Bolivia 1 (today in Asunción)
Colombia - Ecuador (still playing in Bogotá)

Tomorrow we'll get the chance to see the definitive positions.

That was after Brazil led 1-0 at half-time too. Not a good result for them.

Update scores (Full-Time)...

CONMEBOL
Colombia 0 - 0 Ecuador

This pretty much ends Columbia's chances of qualifying, they needed a win to stay in the hunt for 4th or 5th spot. Their next game against Uruguay will determine who's going to challenge Brazil for 4th place, with Colombia 4 points behind both Brazil & Uruguay at the moment.

CONCACAF

Honduras 1-0 Jamaica (0-0)

Important win here for Honduras which sees them consolidate outright 2nd spot behind leaders Costa Rica, they now stay ahead of Mexico and the US by 1 point.

Costa Rica 2-0 United States (1-0)

This was the big game of the group here. A very costly loss for the US, which sees them incredibly slip from 2nd to 4th spot as both Honduras and Mexico leap frog them in the group. Costa Rica have all but booked their ticket to Japan & Korea by opening up a 5 point lead at the top of the group, but the US must now rely on other results to go their way in order to qualify in the first 3 positions. The only thing in their favour is that they have the easiest run home of the others, with the last 2 games against the 2 bottom teams beneath them in Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago.

Mexico 3-0 Trinidad & Tobago (2-0)

Important win for Mexico that sees them claw their way right back into the group with an excellent chance now of grabing either 2nd or 3rd spot. They are locked on 13 points with the US but are ahead on goal difference, though they do have a considerably tougher run home.
