Seen it. Can NOT afford it. But if I had unlimited funds, I'd have a copy of all of the Beatles-related publications by that publisher (is it Genesis Publications? I can't remember).

The first Beatles book I read and owned was "A hard day´s write". It contains much great pics, too. When I got it, I hardly knew any Beatles Songs besides the "1"s and stuff from the red and blue album. So I used to read it before- and after I knew the songs that were described, and it was fun both times.
Then I read the Anthology of course, great for insiders, too much for beginners, I think.
I love Ian McDonalds book about the Beatles songs, don´t know the english title. I still have it next to my bed and find new stuff in it.
About John I have "John" by Cyn and "Memories of john Lennon" by Yoko. Both great to read!
German greetings, Ch. Jansen

Whoa, asha and jesgear, your collections are *amazing*! Even at the height of my collecting, I never had a collection that massive! Even so, I wish I'd held onto some of the books I've collected since I was a teen; I've donated a lot of them as I've moved from place to place over the last thirty years! Ah well, I hope some of those donated books lead others to Beatle fandom!
Currently, I have:
The Anthology
Imagine: John Lennon - Solt, et.al
Shout! The Beatles in Their Generation - Phillip Norman
Memories of John Lennon - Yoko Ono, ed.
Skywriting by Word of Mouth -jl
In His Own Write/A Spaniard in the Works (a paperback released right after John was killed that included both books)
Gimme Some Truth - Elizabeth Partridge
Many Years From Now - Miles
John Lennon In His Own Words- Collected by Miles
Paul McCartney In His Own Words - Paul Gambacini, ed.
Paul McCartney: Beatle With Wings! (some cheapo book I bought in the 70's; amazing that I still have it).
The Ballad of John and Yoko - Compiled by the Editors of Rolling Stone
A Twist of Lennon - Cynthia Lennon
The Playboy Interviews with John and Yoko - David Sheff & G. Barry Golson, eds.
I also have two "alternate reality novels" about the Beatles: One, published in the 70's called "Paperback Writer" and another from the 90's or early 2000's called "Liverpool Fantasy." Both are very good.

How many times does it have to be said?
Read "Do You Want to Know a Secret? The Story of the Official George Harrison Fan Club" by Pat Kinzer Mancuso. It is a genuine treat.

Wow! Some people have a whole library of Beatle books! This is what I have:
Reference: - John's Skywriting by Word of Mouth (posthumous, c. 1986?)
- Real Love: The Drawings for Sean
- Memories of John Lennon, edited by Yoko
- NME Originals John Lennon magazine
- George on cover of Time magazine Dec. 10, 2001 (with a nice tribute article)
- George's I, Me, Mine
- Paul interview, Reader's Digest, Nov. 2001
- Beatles "The Untold Story" Reader's Digest, Nov. 2005 (cool pictures!)
- Beatles at Shea Stadium TV Guide (George)
- Yoko's Grapefruit, 2000. John's "intro."
- John's In His Own Write, 2000, with Yoko's "intro." Apparently thie rights to this book are jointly owned by Yoko and Julian(!).
Fiction:- How I Won the War, Patrick Ryan. Copyright 1963 UK, published 1964 US. I liked the movie better. (from [link]http://www.powells.com[/link])
- Imagined, Tom Maremaa
- Rooftop Sessions Vol. 3. I found it at a used bookstore!
- Here, There & Everywhere, Chris Robeson ( A science fiction novel; one early chapter is a Beatles alternate history.)
- Liverpool Fantasy, Larry Kirwan
- "The Twelfth Album," Stephen Baxter. Year's Best SF 4, edited David G. Hartwell Excerpt here Can anyone else imagine John singing "Maybe I'm Amazed"? I can't; it doesn't suit him.
- But I'll Be Back Again, Cynthia Rylant. Her autobiography, including her favorite Beatles lyrics.
- Beatleology magazine, Feb. 2006 From a used record/CD store.
Second Generation:
- AHDN novelisation, by John Burke (The other girl with Patti's character when Paul talks to them on the train is called "Rita" here. Creepy!
)
- The True Story of the Beatles, Billy Shepard
- 2 books of pictures, both called Beatles [U.S.A] Ltd, c. 1965-66?
- Help! The Beatles, Random House/United Artists. Not a novelisation. A nice behind-the-scenes article, and then soundtrack lyrics from the film.

It's because of book threads that I found this site. I googled in 'Growing Up With The Beatles' and this was one of the google listings.

LOL, Jesgear....I admire your tenacity - actually typing up that entire list. I just looked at the question, looked at my bookcase, and gave up!

That Ian MacDonald book is entitled, "Revolution in the Head" - a good analysis of the group's music, though I can't say I always agreed with his critique!

My most prized Beatles book...
Back in 1964 when I just turned 16 I bought myself a copy of John Lennon's "In his own Write"
I still have it.
I guess I have purchased and given away a few hundred books and magazines about The Beatles over the last 46 years, but that one will always hold a very special place in my heart!
The LATEST Beatles book purchase for me was "Liddypool."
If you don't own it... then buy it.
The BEST way to know the Beatles... is to know where they came from.
THIS is the book you've been waiting for --- amazing photos as well, some I had never, ever seen before.
David Bedford (fellow Liverpudlian) took 10 years to write this... and the details show it.

Has anybody else read the book George's sister Lou co-authored, "Before He Was Fab?"
Another George treat is Pat Kinzer Mancuso's "Do You Want to Know a Secret? The True Story of the Official George Harrison Fan Club."

I bought that book at my first Beatlefest in 2000. My copy is labeled as "24 of 100" and was signed by co-author Jim Kirkpatrick, Marcia Schafer Raubach (conducted the first live radio interview in the US with a Beatle), Gabe McCarty (member of The Four Vests, the band George jammed with on his first US visit), and, of course, Lou.
Great reading; I dig hearing about the way the world was back then.

I purchased and read both of these, BB. In fact, Lou's book, (and the DVD showing the actual house and town), was an invaluable resource when I was writing "True Love Ways."
I thought Pat Mancuso's book was rather intriguing. Misunderstandings aside, whatever else happened, I felt it was such a shame that things didn't end better and with a more satisfactory sense of closure....I found that very sad.

An autographed copy with Lou's signature! How cool is that!
I also own and have reviewed the dvd "A Beatle in Benton." Ever since I was a very little girl I have wanted to know the story about George in America and I'm delighted that the book has finally been written!
I loved the Mancuso book and I hope she has found peace. She included some great never before seen photographs of George, his nephew Ian, Lou, and the senior Harrisons.
Well said, Terri.
