Nice and interesting remark about "Pisces Fish"

I am grateful for my old friend and one-time Standard journalist David Coxell, who has alerted me to some interesting lyrics in a song on George Harrison’s last album, Brainwashed.

The song, Pisces Fish, contains the line: ‘Smoke signals from the brewery/ Like someone in there found the latest Pope’.

Could it be that George was one of the very few people who knew that Nicholas Breakspear, of the brewing family, became Pope Adrian 1V way back in 1154?

As David points out, sadly, we will never know.

I was just listening to Brainwashed today. I was particularly focused on that line for a while. So I think that really is the answer. Of course, it was just like George to know something like that. His lyrics, especially in later years were so cryptic....you have to have the key.
