Pete Best could not keep a beat, he also wouldn't conform to the Beatles' style of haircut. Bottom Line: Ringo Starr is amazing.

It still blows my mind to see the words "hate" and "Ringo" in the same sentence!
OMG, someone like that has got to be either totally ignorant of our sweet Starkey's personality... or a real nazi!

I'd agree with you there, I am incapable of hating any beatle although Paul is my favourite, I love all four as they are the phenomena called The beatles!!

How about this one - I hate it when somebody disses the Ringster! I hate it when people are callously dismissive of his drumming ability and musical aptitude. I also hate it when people make comments to the effect that Ringo was not as vital a member as the other Beatles. Horse manure! Our Drummer Boy was every bit as vital as his fab bandmates!

For what it's worth---
I have a close friend who is an excellent professional drummer, and as he is 59 he was there for the whole Beatle thing. He has a very high opinion of Ringo. Though not flashy like Moon or Bonham, he's wonderful in his own way; he does stuff just a bit different from most others and does it cool. And as for his part in the group--friend agrees that Ringo was perfect for the band. He also says that most of his drummer-peers feel roughly the same way about ol' Ring.

Of course, what people forget about Ringo is that it's not HOW he played, but WHAT he played. He litterally put the BEAT in the Beatles and if the Beatles didn't have that infectious beat, I'd be scared to think where music would be.

Bottom line: Ringo rocks. :)
Nicely put. He was no where near as good of a drummer as John Bonham or Keith Moon. He's also not even close to being as good of a drummer than his son. With that being said his style fit the bad perfectly.

Ringo is cool in my book.

How and why in the blue hell would anybody hate Ringo? What did he ever do to these strangers who claim to hate him? As far as I know, he has never been cited for incidents involving cruelty; he's never been charged with any crimes and he likes hound dogs. So why would anybody hate him?

Well a bit of alcohol here and there, a bit of hitting. But that's all in the past and I still think that hate is to strong of a word. Music fans might not like his drumming, Beatle fans might not like his songs voice or even drumming, but hate?
