Default New Dhani project !!!!!

This is amazing

Mr President, a new song.. check the link and listen.

Interesting thing here apart from the new song is the connection with Regina Spektor whose last album was done with Jeff Lynne.

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/musi...-from-rza.html

Just days before its Monday night appearance at Hollywood's Bardot, Dhani Harrison's collective thenewno2 has unveiled its new RZA-bolstered single, "Mr. President." The song is the centerpiece of a four-song EP, "EP002," due Sept. 27, through the band's own Hot Records.

"Mr. President" sees the groove-focused, electronic-enhanced collective focusing less on its atmospheric side and wholeheartedly embracing a more digital presentation. What surprises, perhaps, is how effortlessly the act segues into hip-hop, as Harrison's soft and familiar vocals provide a grounded counterbalance to RZA's political verses. The cut, which also features RZA pals Crisis and Sir Eyes, is a short, fast and direct take on class warfare, targeting its ire largely at the previous American presidential administration.

Listen to it after the jump:
02 Mr. President

Harrison -- yes, the son of George -- considers thenewno2 more of a collective with varied technological pursuits rather than a typical group.

"We're all studio nerds -- that's who I've surrounded myself with," Harrison told the Los Angeles Times of the act's approach back in 2009. "Every single person in the band is also a mix engineer or a soundtrack engineer or a composer or a filmmaker or some other kind of nerd. I design video games -- that's my nerdy side."
Thenewno2 is currently in the midst of recording the follow-up to 2008's "You Are Here," and intends to have the album ready for 2012 release. As for "EP002," RZA isn't the only A-list guest, as Regina Spektor makes an appearance on "Live a Lie." The EP is rounded out by a track called "Wide Awake" and a remix of "Mr. President."

You can hear George in the vocalization and pronunciation.

However, I don't like the song. I think I would like it if it weren't so computerized/electric and didn't have the "urban" input.

I like it, Dhani sure sounds and looks like his father, lucky us.

Oh yes, Dhani goes with multiple rap-based breaks. Yes! We got prayer, we got political analysis, we got RAP! Whooo- yah! RZA is from Wu Tang, Dhani's buddies who covered WMGGW back in 2007. So if people enjoy this and missed that, check it out!

I love this song! The rap breaks combine with Dhani's melodic voice segments. Awesome contrast drives home the song's message. Great job!

Notice that they specifiy "Bush, not Obama" in their critique... also dissing both W and Bush, Snr.

AND.... with the article, another pic of Dhani's pink rosary beads.

Here's another~

EP002 will be released digitally Sept. 27th. For fans of the compact disc, a limited addition CD will be available via the bands web-store. Check out their new song "Mr. President" featuring RZA, Crisis and Sir Eyes here.....

Dhani does resemble George, but he has the slighter body build of Harold Sr. He did not inherit their wavy hair. He has Louise French's ocular intensity to a certain degree, but with him it is not ubiquitious as it was in George and Louise French.

FPSHOT, your snide digs are beyond rude and boring.

I admit that I didn't care for the music either as it is not my thing. It's always interesting to see what the former Beatles' children have accomplished and not just musically.

There is nothing rude about it, it is expressing an opinion about these continues same kind of posts which become so predictibale and boring and trust me, it's not only my opinion.

Besides, it has nothing to do with the subject matter so as so often is total buzzkill.

I hope Dhani has been able to hear wonderful stories about his terrific, warm hearted Grandparents from George's side. I like to imagine George sharing wonderful stories of his folks with Dhani.

You once defined buzzkill. I see you are demonstrating it. Taking swipes at others is rude AND boring and others have noticed. You know very good and well "boring" gets people's backs up. Think of how you responded when told the same.

Back to the subject, I smiled at the political statements.

Still, while I was not overly fond of the music, there is no doubt where Dhani inherited his voice. He really does sound like George.

No way can I listen to this, then. It would mess with my mind!
I do enjoy listening to Julian Lennon's songs, tho.

BB, I guess you and Mr. Shot can put each other on "ignore" or something.
Your posts about George's wavy hair and stuff always make me smile.

Of course I noticed. How could he possibly critique Obama with the absolutely fantastic job he has done? I agree Obama inherited a mess but when almost three years later it's even more of a mess it's time to stop drinking the Kool-Aid and put blame where it belongs. (Don't forget, the D's controlled both House and Senate and the White House during the first 2 years.)

Just for the record, I've got a friend who is a Jonestown survivor and the phrase 'stop drinking the kool aid' which is being overused as of late is very disturbing to some of us on a personal level.
LEt's not forget that Obama bailed out the auto industry. Bush bailed out the banks (who forced many people I know into forecloseur even when they could pay their bills).

This policital bickering on "My side is right' is what got the US their lower credit rating. It's time to work together to solve the problems and those that can't get along and work together, LEAVE IT FOR THOSE OF US WHO CAN. Period. smack the hands and mouths of the childish squabblers and let the adults solve the problems now.

Let the children play and the adults work together in the tradition of Paul McCartney - we can work it out and like John said, we'll give peace a chance.

I think Toy made some excellent points above.

Good point about the Kool-Aide, Toy. November of 1978 in Jonestown was a dark period in time. For those who lost loved ones during that period, my condolences to all.

Political discourse is one thing, but bickering just kills discourse. I've bitched and moaned many times about my deep aversion for sycophants and apple polishing toadies. Nobody respects a yes-man. What I find equally distasteful is slanging matches when people resort to rude comments and personal attacks instead of listening to one another. Disagreement is one thing. I have no issue with that. Right now I'm going to pull out one of my favorite quotes because I feel it is so a propos:

"I never considered a difference of opinion in politics, in
religion, in philosophy, as cause for withdrawing from a friend." -- Thomas Jefferson

I guess, I too am too old to appreciate the style of Dhani's music, he does sound like George right out of the gate on that one, thanks for posting the song FP.
