Beware of Google
I've heard genuine horror stories about how Google can and does read people's e-mail and access their personal information. If you post on YouTube, you put yourself at risk. I have an aol account. I plan never to post on YouTube again. How do I continue to enjoy my playlists set to private without risking further invasion of privacy? How do I beak with Google?
These are serious questions. For you techies out there, here is a real chance to help many with these same questions.

If you are scared of Google then you should be terrified of Facebook. How do you think they make their money?

I've heard of that, too.
It's the internet, there's no privacy at all, even when you think there is. Big Brother is watching you.

Seriously, read this before you throw yourself into a panic. And the privacy policy, if you ever bother to read it, tells you exactly what Google can or can't do with your information.

I read it, so don't judge. Nobody appreciates a snide know it all as know it alls really don't know everything and tact is generally not their forte. I am interested in learning from others.

Honestly if you're that worried about privacy you can get Ghostery. Browser addon, it lets you block webbugs and trackers and such.

More security stuff:
At the moment, I use Microsoft Security Essentials + MalwareBytes Anti-Malware + VirusTotal Uploader for individual files.
If you've accidentally installed a dodgy toolbar, the Junkware Removal Tool can often get rid of it. Its a command-line application but not that hard to use.
Use LastPass. Or if you don't want to, remember a bit of advice from xkcd:
Also, a lot of password "hacks" are actually really clever social engineering. That means somehow tricking you or the company to give you their password.
