Pee-Wee Herman?
I heard a rumor that the aptly nicknamed Pee-Wee Herman (Paul Rubens) died. Is this so?

I checked Google News, and there are no reports... Where did you hear the rumor?

Sounds like just a rumour to me. Haven't heard or seen anything on the contrary.

Nah, he's still alive. Although his career pretty much crashed and burned when he was caught and arrested for fiddling with himself in a porn cinema.

Yeah. That pretty much died when he was found performing a lewd act in an adult movie theater a few years back.

Though you have to give him credit for going to the MTV Movie Awards just two months later and asking, "So...heard any good jokes lately?"
I'm a huge Pee-wee Herman fan. Big Adventure is my third favorite movie ever, and I'm still anxiously awaiting the limited edition Playhouse boxset.

did you ever see his HBO stage show?
He does an adult version of his playhouse that's actually really good, and that's what led to his kiddie playhouse show, which was also really good.
what washe thinking that infamous day?

One of my favorite parts is the hand puppet hypnotist.
He pulls someone out of the audience and proceeds to hypnotize here with a puppet.
"Jooooan!"

I always thought Pee-Wee got a bum rap with that porn thing.I always wondered what the cop was doing in the theatre at the time anyways.

Agreed; it wasn't a big deal. What's worse is that they confiscated some of his belongings a few years back because they thought he was into child porn. Courtney Cox and David Arquette actually taped a message to help show that he was innocent.

I never understood what the big deal about exposing oneself while watching a porno was. Isn't that kinda the point?

And I doubt that anyone else in the theater was really offended...

I remember he played a vampire in the movie Buffy The Vampire Slayer. That movie is old, but not as old as Pee-Wee's Play House. Not too long after the movie came out there was a show called Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Everybody is formillar with it I'm sure. The show of course had a different actress who played Buffy, which I think they should have kept the original actress.
By the way, I use to love to watch Pee-Wee's Play House when I was little too. The secret word use to drive my parents crazy though. Everytime someone said the secret word everyone would scream, AHHHHHHHHHHH!
I bet they got that idea from Groucho Marx's "You Bet Your Life" quiz show in which Groucho, would say the "secret word", a common word seemingly selected at random and revealed to the audience at the show's outset. If a contestant uttered the word, a mustachioed toy duck (wearing eyeglasses and with a cigar in it's bill, resembling Groucho) would descend from the ceiling to bring the contestant $50.

I used to baby sit a little boy that LOVED Pee-Wee Herman. This kid wasn't but maybe two years old, and he'd sit on my lap and watch Pee Wee Great Adventure with me, sometimes twice in a row, without moving. I have to admit, I may have been as entertained as Jonathon was!

The movie came out in 1992, and I think the show started at least three years after that...besides, the movie sucked, Sarah Michelle Gellar was better.
I'll probably be watching the Pee-wee Christmas special tonight or tomorrow.
