Do they at least take you past George's and Ringo's houses?
They are not obliged to do so as the tours are run by the National Trust and Ringo and George's houses do not belong to them!
However they do on the journey point out relevant places of interest and as I recall they do pass Ringo's at least, it was more than a year ago that last went!

I read on the "interwebs" that there were direct flights from France is Liverpool for 58 Euro! A steal! I think I may have to consider getting a flight over!
Or I could take Brittany Ferries over to Portsmouth and take a train or something, however it is quite far...

I feel hung up and I don't know why...
I have been on the outside of all of the houses a number of times but never inside (looooong stories on why not!!!) so I am really looking forward to this trip when I get to go in.
I'm so excited to go back this fall! I'm booking airfare sometime next month, and after airfare, this will be the next thing I'll book. It's awesome, and if you've never been there and Liverpool is somewhere you're planning on going to, you cannot miss this. Oh, and if you've never been to Liverpool before, you really should plan to go there too.

When my Mom and I went, this was in the mid 80's somewhere, they took us by all the houses. (I didn't realize they sometimes just do John and Paul's houses?) George's boyhood home was for sale at the time I went. Probably could have gotten a realitor to show us inside, lol, but then again they'd probably suspect we were lookie-loo's!
I want to do this SO badly...one of my friends is supposed to be booking this, but of course, I'm going during the most busy season for Beatley people, so I don't know if we'll get to do it. And erin, let's not talk about airfare, it's INSANE right now...

The little group of Linkers who visited Liverpool last week absolutely loved the house tours! We had so much fun. I have a few piccies of us outside each so will post those when I get home.
It was defo worth the money to go inside. John's in particular was really amazing to visit. Pauls was great too of course. I loved the backyard there and being shown the little window and pipe that is in a few photos of the boys against the house.
On the way to the houses we were told it is Mendips and Forthlin Rd that are the significant properties to the Beatles as a group - not because John and Paul are more important than George and Ringo but because it was in these two properties where they would gather together for rehersals and where most of the song writing was done.
I've done this trip before, a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it!!! Am going again this year when I go up for Beatleweek and really looking forward to it!!!
I found the kitchen at Forthlin Road particularly interesting as nearly everything in it was identical to things in my nan's kitchen (alot of which now resides in mine!)!!!

I forgot about this topic, but yes, I booked it for Friday the 22nd! (Too bad we're not on the same tour, Sandy!) I can't wait! I'm so glad I managed to fit it in my schedule, with 6 gigs in 4 days, it's amazing that I found a time that works!

I was just in Liverpool in May and did those tours. Of all the beatle tours in liverpool, this National Trust tour is the only one that actually takes you inside the houses they grew up in. The others simply just take you to the front of the house. It was a very informative tour. Everything in the houses are decorated as how it looked when they lived there.
The people who give the tours are very nice and knowledgeable and I cant recommend this tour highly enough!

Hari's Chick, the tour you went on sounds like the Magical Mystery Tour which takes you all over the main tourist places to look at Beatle-related places but not actually inside the houses...great tour actually!
The lady who lives in Ringo's house (Admiral Grove) is lovely and if she sees fans stood outside she asks them in for a cup of tea and a nosey at all the memorabilia. Bless her! There also used to be an old woman who lived on Arnold Grove who loved the tourists and had a gorgeous black dog, but she died a few years back. She lived there when the Harrison family lived there as well.

Check out this video clip of people inside Ringo's place, getting shown around by the nice old lady! And listen to how she feels about Ringo! hahahaaaa!
Aww, she sounds a little disappointed in him at times. That was neat though! Awfully nice of her to let all those people in the house (is it her house?) to take pics and stuff.
