My sister Christine was riding with her and saw the accident and went with her to the hospital for a few hours. My dad and I just went to go pick her up though, because it looks like Kim will still be several hours there, if not overnight, and there wasn't any point in her staying there in the waiting room while she has an exam tomorrow morning.
It looks like Kim will be okay, but her arm was smashed up pretty hard. While she was riding she actually fell off a few times, the first time she was winded but got back on. They were doing jumping, and with just a few minutes left of the lesson Kim's horse jumped, and then the girth (large belt that goes around the belly to hold the saddle on) snapped, and the horse went one way while Kim and the saddle went the other.
Christine said her arm looks pretty bad, and it looks like her elbow has two "points" instead of one because of the bone sticking out (ewww and ouch). So Kim is on "happy gas" and morphine right now, but when my sister was there she said the medication wasn't helping much and Kim was still in a lot of pain.
So it looks like the doctors will have to reset the elbow for her, and I'm not sure if her wrist was broken or sprained as well. I don't know if she would need surgery for that, or if the doctors can fix it up with a cast??
Whenever I hear more I'll let you all know, although at this point we'll probably just get an update tomorrow if she doesn't see the doctors for a while yet...
It's too bad that this is her right arm that got hit. That will make things pretty difficult. :( Not to mention I'm sure this accident will ruin many of her summer plans, and any more horseback riding for the next several weeks.

Oh that is awful! I really hope she will be ok and not in too much discomfort, my love and good wishes are sent.
Take it from me, all the good wishes sent on this forum really do have a positive effect.

Thank you all for your very kind wishes! I will pass them onto Kim as soon as I am able. Like you mentioned, Sally, now I'm also very confident that the good thoughts and prayers can work wonders, and I'm sure Kim will be okay.
I don't have any more updates right now - I'm sure her parents aren't up at this hour, though - but as soon as I hear anything else I'll be sure to let you all know.

This is a MI in comparison to the ones others have shared. I am at the library and these girls making cat sounds are really annoying me. I wish they'd talk instead of making those damned irritating sounds.
Another MI - I can't stand groveling. There are few things that drive me up a tree to the extent toadying behavior does. I knew someone who would do ANYTHING, repeat, ANYTHING to be liked. That would include agreeing with the most off the wall things and kowtowing to acknowledged favorites. That got old fast and I found myself becoming increasingly impatient with the person because I didn't like this behavior.

Ok, this heat has GOT to end. And we need rain badly.... My neighbor's swimming pool looks SO tempting right now; I'm wilted. And the week is yet young.

I would give absolutely anything to switch our weather with yours - we've broken all previous records with all this rain we've been getting! I think we've had exactly two days of "nice" weather, and every other day for the past month and a half it's been cloudy and/or rainy!
I start work next Monday, and I would like to enjoy some nice weather before I'm stuck inside all day!

By the way, Kim did dislocate her elbow, and fractured her wrist. So her entire arm is all wrapped up in a cast for the next six weeks... but I admire her determination, she's already looking forward to to hopping back on her horse. It'll be a while before she can do that obviously, but she definately is a trooper.

My MI: Big storms, big winds, trees falling down, and no internet, tv, or phone. At least it's all fixed now.

"His mad cows are being put to sleep"
I need to vent about BSE (mad cow) and the hypocritical US governemnt as another mad cow is found in the US We are Insisting that Japan and Taiwann who have put a stop to buying US beef better start buying our cows again But at the same time we have put a ban on Canadien beef for the exact same reason. Im so sick of USA saying one thing to one counrty while saying the opposite to another Like Iran having nukes bad but America having nukes good!and Cuba is a bad bad place ! But ofcorse we build a Military jail there and thats good
