Default Beatles Vinyl Remasters Coming

Beatles Vinyl Remasters On The Way!
12:21 PM GMT 02/11/2009

The Beatles' back catalogue will be reissued on vinyl, says Jeff Jones, Chief Executive of Apple Corps.

Speaking exclusively to MOJO, Jones revealed that work on the next stage of the Beatles Remastered campaign is currently underway: "We're working on them now," said Jones, "I don't have a release date. To put a release date next to them forces us into a situation where we're releasing something that might not be ready. "

The vinyl remasters will follow this year's stunning Mono and Stereo CD reissues, with the engineers at Abbey Road and Apple already hard at work: "They are incredibly complicated in terms of getting the masters right and getting the packages right," added Jones. "How do you assemble them? How do you put them in a box? How much do they cost? We want to make sure we're doing it right and that people get real value from it."

Recordheads - you may officially begin salivating now. The Beatles vinyl remasters are on the way. No wait...Beatles vinyl remasters BOXSETS are on the way!

Yay!! Although I doubt that I'll be able to afford them.

^ This.

Unless I buy them one at a time over the course of 3 years...

Also, I really hope the White Album is on white vinyl again.

I've spent all the money I'm spending on Beatles remasters. The only thing they can get me to spend money on now will be remixes.

No need for the stereo versions, as I have got the blue box, but to complete my mono vinyl set, if done right, this would be perfect.

If I got the vinyl remasters, I might have to break down and buy a record player! (That's the one thing I miss most about living at home: my dad's hi-fi!!!)

But, is there really any need to remaster LPs?

After all, how much better can technology improve the sound of vinyl at this point? With CDs, I can understand. But what are LPs lacking that technology can fix now?

Now, if they use high-quality vinyl, then...

I was thinking the same thing. My first impression when I popped-in my remastered "Revolver" stereo CD was... "Wow! This sounds as good as my old vinyl!".

So, I personally don't see the need for remastered vinyl. I was under the impression that the old '87 CD's were the things that needed re-mastering.

Yeah...come to think of it.

The whole point of remastering was to bring the CDs to the point of sounding as good as the vinyl did to begin with, if not a little better, right?

Of course they don't need remastered vinyl. But it's a pretty cool collector's item. My record player's been out of commission for years but I have to admit I do like the idea of owning these on vinyl. Although I sincerely doubt I'll buy any of them.

The LPs will probably be audiophile 180 gram releases. Attention to detail is very important. So Apple is right in moving slowly on this portion of the remasters project. I wonder if the LPs will come out with the period labels as the CDs did.

I love the idea of vinyl these days. But if I were to ever get serious about vinyl again, I'd stick to my original LP's.

I know that this might sound pretentious, but oh boy the thrill of an LP in a cover etc makes them worth buying just for the aesthetic pleasure...

Me to for the most part, but I still need some mono's.

The original vinyl sounds best, but these new vinyl will hopefully and most likely replace the current vinyl versions which has been mastered from the digital masters used for the 1987 cd's. Now we get the tapes used for the 2009 cd's. So why it would be more logic to use analogue mastertapes, the vinyl will sound better then the cd.

Well, you can listen to the old original monos.

Funny... when I was listening to my aunt's Beatles albums as a kid, I didn't realize that I was listening to mono LP's. When I began to buy my own re-issued orange-label Capitol albums in the late 70's-early 80's, they were all stereo albums, of course.

But I was first introduced to The Beatles in mono!

How can I listen to the old mono's when I don't have them,
and finding the originals is dificult and expensive?
Not to mention that when you do find one, they are mostly scratched and skip at one or more points.
