Good question and one I find very interesting, actually. Just my opinion, but I don't think a celebrity's personal life is anybody's business unless they make it public. If they parade their wives/husbands/kids/lovers in the public eye, then ok, but if they try to shield them as much as possible, people should respect that.

Now mind you, I'm using the word "should". That doesn't mean that people "will" respect their privacy and I think anybody with a public career has to be prepared that their personal lives and their privacy are likely to be invaded by strangers/fans/media. SHOULD that happen? No. But is it likely to? Yes. And if you willingly embrace a career in the arts/politics/etc where your job is in the public eye, you have to understand that some restrictions on your public life are going to come with the territory.

Just my 2 cents.

Well said, Rell. Add my .2c as well - I don't feel it is my place to judge people that I don't know. None of us know what we would do if we were to walk even a block in the shoes of another, so I am banging on the drum for tolerance and acceptance of people.

Private being the operative word here, I am a firm believer in privacy and showing respect for the private lives of others. Sadly, public figures CAN count on their private lives being trotted out, but again, as outsiders we really don't know the ins and outs of that person's private life nor should we. Even though this comes with the territory, I still think that some of the things you read and see can be taken with a grain of salt.

Again, I believe that a person is NOT their private life and they deserve better than to be judged on what reporters and paparazzi have brought out to the world's collective eye. Just sayin'....

Not worth the spam folder even.

It's something that criticises, comments on something from over 40 years ago, above all it's about someone who isn't here anymore? Add lots of speculations So how can you discuss and comment on it as it being the full truth.

I can only see this article being in bad taste, and nothing more.
Well said, Legs and hibgal throughout this thread. Articles of this ilk are simply Devil's Radio. I also think it is in extremely poor taste to trot things like this out about someone who is not here to speak for themselves. What real purpose does this sort of thing serve?

I agree. MJ said this, too. "You know, don't judge a person, do not pass judgement, unless you have talked to them one on one. I don't care what the story is, do not judge them because it is a lie." I love this quote.

I think Paul wrote his finest music when he and Linda were together. Pretty much all my favorite Paul songs are from the Linda era. Also, there is something about his music with her harmonies. Her voice really adds a lot of character to Paul's songs. Linda is great. I think she was Paul's muse.

So maybe it's time for us Beatles fans to take a stand here and NOT post rehashed gossip articles from the tabloids? After all, what real purpose does it serve, giving attention to old 'truths' that we're already familiar with, embellished and repeated for the umpteenth time?

Nah, I think that's too close to censorship, I mean, who's doing the determination of what's new information and what's a rehash, or what's "acceptable" and what isn't? I think people should be able to post any article they want to and if people don't think it's something they want to read or comment on, then don't read it or comment on it.

I was thinking more like self-sensorship, Relle. To give a thought to it before posting, is all. Not that the mods should create a rule that it's forbidden!

The last thing I want to see is censorship and people are entitled to post relevant articles and people are just as entitled to respond to the articles.

Naturally we are interested in any Beatle related and people associated withthe Beatles related article. When something is put out in the public forum/public eye, expect that it will draw responses. This is a discussion, not a debate and people offering differing perspectives is a) what makes a conversation interesting and b) gives people a chance to learn. Nobody ever learned in an echo chamber.

yes, because where it says "20 lovers in two years" it does not say who did the counting and if 20 in 2 years in those days was a lot or too few

Who's to judge what's relevant? There's nothing wrong with a little fluff now and then. Life's too short to be DEADLY SERIOUS all the time. :)

If you find this article relevant, fluff and fun then that's up to you.

I am far from being serious all the time. But personally I don't see the fun and need to comment on what someone did 40 years ago, especially not when that person isn't living anymore.

I'll stop being serious after I typed the.

Exactly. Linda's been dead for over a decade. Isn't it about time to bury old gossip about her as well?

Nope, not particularly any of the above. It's the principle, not the article or its contents. I just don't understand why anybody has to decide for others what's interesting or "worth" discussion, but whatever, I don't really feel strongly enough about it to debate it anymore. Have a great weekend. :)
