Vee Jay gets US contract to release Beatles records.

5:00-5:29pm. BBC's "Here We Go"' broadcast (all of January 16, 1963 session but "Three Cool Cats").

Night: Performance at the Cooperative Hall, Darwen, with the Baptist Youth Club Dance & The Mustangs.

Cilla Black debuts as a vocalist at Liverpool's Cavern Club.

Paul McCartney launches a crusade against British radio and TV stations over the banning of "The Light Comes From Within," the final song by his late wife Linda, because it contains language deemed offensive.

In Tampa, Florida, the exhibition of Linda's pictures entitled "Sixties" is on display at the Tampa Museum of Art.

2011
A former Miss Canada finalist became the first person in the world to graduate with a Masters degree in the Beatles. Canadian singer Mary-Lu Zahalan-Kennedy, 53, was one of the first students to sign up for the course on the Fab Four when it launched at Liverpool Hope University in March 2009.

2014
The Beatles are presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award at a special pre-Grammy Special Merit Award ceremony.
