I come out of retirement in honor of Ravi. This is such a huge loss that words cannot describe.

Such sad news. I'm thankful that I was able to see him play a few ago.

Yes it is very sad for us - he was truly a remarkable soul and i am going to miss him here on this planet with us very much.
Coincidentally I am currently visiting Wellington NZ, where i had the great pleasure of seeing him 2 years ago. Despite being 89 at the time he still travelled all the way down here to perform in an INCREDIBLE performance..I also got to see him 2 nights at the Sydney Opera House and sit next to Sukanya in Wellington..Today it seemed only fiitting i visit the Michael Fowler Centre again where all that happened - my personal connection to Raviji. I remember when he left the stage the crowd wouldnt let him leave and he kept coming out for bows -about 4 times, it is something i will never forget!
It is a difficult one - i am very sad but also happy is free from all the earthly and bodily constraints here - and yes i know he is again with George right now, catching up on things and maybe treating him to a Raga..
We will not see his like again - truly an Angel on Earth in human form..

Ravi died on the same day as the Master Shift (One of my coworkers said it was like he had to become a spirit for that event) and it is ironic that it was the same day as the Sandy benefit since Ravi was instrumental in the first ever benefit concert.

Ravi's death is a terrible loss. He and George were, I think, spiritually entwined.
You can look at it like this. George had 3 fathers. Harold Sr., his natural father. God, our Heavenly Father who created him. Ravi, a father figure and spiritual counselor. Any way you look at it, George was created by, born into, surrounded by and inspired love.

It's good to see you back, darkhorse32. Sorry it must be in such sad circumstances, but still, nice to see you posting again.

with Ravi's death, I decided to get the box set of Collabarations. I just opened my box today. Seeing him and George hugging under a blanket on the front cover makes me sad knowing that now both of them are gone

Ravi Shankar Public memorial in SRF Encinitas
That's today. Anyone here going or been?
Public memorial set for Ravi Shankar in Calif
ENCINITAS, Calif. (AP) — World-famous musician Ravi Shankar will be remembered Thursday at a public memorial service in San Diego County.
City News Service reports the service will begin at 10 a.m. at the Self-Realization Fellowship in Encinitas and will include tributes and prayers.
Shankar was a master of the Indian sitar who collaborated with and influenced George Harrison, John Coltrane and other Western music icons. He lived in Encinitas for two decades and died last week in San Diego at the age of 92.
Shankar was the father of singer Norah Jones and Grammy-nominated sitarist Anoushka Shankar.

Ravi Shankar wrote a beautiful song titled, "Friar Park". The video posted has lovely photos of the estate and some of George I'd never seen. I tried to link it but it wouldn't pull up correctly. Just go to YouTube and type in Ravi Shankar Friar Park. It's the 5 min. + video. So soothing to listen to.
