overplayed songs
A post in the 'most boring songs' thread inspired this:
What are the most overplayed songs? This applies especially to songs that are actually good, or even great, but due to over-exposure, you just can't stand to hear them any more.
'Stairway to Heaven' gets my vote for this category.

Stairway to Heaven? I never hear that song anywhere. Maybe it's just our radio?
But, all the new Green Day and the new Coldplay stuff was beaten to death over here. They played 'Rought Justice' way too much as well. The Stones are great, but that parcticular song isnt really, especially if its every 3rd song played.

"Boulivard of Broken Dreams" by Green Day. It was cool at first, but I heard it too much.

You had a bad day
You're taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
IF I HEAR THIS SONG ONE MORE TIME....... it was good at first BEFORE american idol heard about it!

Not that its a good song, but if I hear that crappy "You're Beautiful" song again I'm gonna go insane.

I can't listen to "American Pie" anymore. I've heard it so much over the years, that I'm just sick of it.

Ditto - still hate 1971's "American Pie."
The Police's 1983 stalker anthem, "Every Breath You Take." To this day I hate the song.
1985's stinker "Take On Me;" the Thompson Twins' "**** Me Now," and "Doctor, Doctor" and in 1997 whinebag Paula Cole's whiner, "I Don't Wanna Wait."

"Take on me" has the best video. I love singing Hold me Now as loud and out of tune as I can.
I don't like "I don't wanna wait" mainly because it was Dawson's Creek theme song.

I think "YMCA" by the Village People is overplayed. I know the young kids like it, because of the hand motions that go with it, but I've heard it at every wedding and party for the past 20 years. I never really liked it to begin with.
